1. Quilt Center Prepare applique pieces using method of choice, and place them on the (25 1/2” x 25 1/2”) fabric K background square, by referring to quilt image as a guide. Applique pieces in place using method of choice.

2. Inner borders #1-2Sew 2 (1 1/2” x 25 1/2”) fabric P strips onto the opposite sides of quilt center. Sew 2 (1 1/2” x 27 1/2”) fabric P strips onto the remaining opposite sides of quilt center. Sew 2 (1” x 27 1/2”) fabric J strips onto the opposite sides of quilt center. Sew 2 (1” x 28 1/2”) fabric J strips onto the remaining opposite sides of quilt center.

3. Pieced inner border #3 Block Construction (using blocks 1, 10 as example).a. Side units. Sew together 1 (1 1/2” x 6 1/2”) fabric U rectangle, 1 (1 1/2” x 6 1/2”) fabric L rectangle and 1 (2 1/2” x 6 1/2”) fabric A rectangle together, as shown. Repeat to make a total of 4 side units.

Sew two side units onto the opposite sides of 1 (6 1/2” x 6 1/2”) fabric K block center.

b. Corner units. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of 1 (2 7/8” x 2 7/8”) fabric A square. Lay square, right sides to-gether, on 1 (2 7/8” x 2 7/8”) fabric X square. Sew 1/4” away from, and both sides of, drawn line. Cut along drawn line to yield 2 HST units. Set aside.

Sew together (1 1/2” x 1 1/2”) squares into a four patch unit: 1 x fabric L, 2 x fabric U, and 1 fabric A, as shown.

Sew together 1 (2 1/2” x 2 1/2”) fabric A square, 2 HST units made in step a, and four patch unit into a corner unit, as shown. Repeat to make a total of 4 corner units.

c. Sew 2 corner units onto the opposite long sides of 1 side unit, as shown, and add to the opposite sides of block center to complete 1 block. Make 2 of this colorway for blocks 1, 10.

d. Repeat to make a total of two blocks each in the following colorways:

(Block 2, 8) (Block 4, 11)

(Block 5, 12)(Block 6,7)

e. Repeat to make one block each of the following color way:

(Block 3) (Block 9)

f. Applique appropriate stars onto star block centers, as shown in quilt diagram, using applique method of choice.g. Sew Blocks 5,6 and Blocks 7, 8 into columns. Add the columns to the opposite sides of quilt center, as shown.

Sew Blocks 1-4 and Blocks 9-12 into rows. Add the rows to the remaining opposite sides of quilt center, as shown.

4. Inner borders #4-6 #4. Sew 2 (1 1/2" x 56 1/2") fabric J strips onto opposite sides of quilt center. Sew 2 (1 1/2" x 58 1/2") fabric J strips onto remaining opposite sides of quilt center.#5. Sew 2 (1 3/4" x 58 1/2") fabric V strips onto opposite sides of quilt center. Sew 2 (1 3/4" x 61") fabric V strips onto remaining opposite sides of quilt center.#6. Sew 2 (2 1/4" x 61") fabric S strips onto opposite sides of quilt center. Sew 2 (2 1/4" x 64 1/2") fabric S strips onto remaining opposite sides of quilt center.

5. Pieced inner border #7a. Shingle block (using pink focal block as example). Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of 1 (1 3/4" x 1 3/4") fabric K square. Place square, right sides together, at top left corner of 1 (4 1/2" x 8 1/2") fabric B rectangle. Sew on drawn line. Trim 1/4" away from sewn line. Open and press to reveal fabric K corner triangle. Repeat with another (1 3/4" x 1 3/4") fabric K square on the top right corner of the same (4 1/2" x 8 1/2") fabric B rectangle to complete block, as shown. Make eight of this colorway.

b. Repeat to make a total of blocks in the following color-ways:

Four fabric F Four fabric U

Four fabric A Four fabric H

Four fabric N Four fabric Q

c. Arrange and sew together 8 shingle blocks into a column. Make a total of 2 columns, and sew columns to the opposite sides of quilt center.

Arrange and sew together 8 shingle blocks into a row. Add 2 (4 1/2" x 4 1/2") fabric K squares to the opposite short ends of the row. Make a total of 2 rows, and sew rows to the remaining opposite sides of quilt center.

6. Inner borders #8-10, and outer border.#8. Sew 2 (2" x 72 1/2") fabric K strips onto the opposite sides of quilt center. Sew 2 (2" x 75 1/2") fabric K strips onto the remaining opposite sides of quilt center.#9. Sew 2 (1 1/2" x 75 1/2") fabric R strips onto the opposite sides of quilt center. Sew 2 (1 1/2" x 77 1/2") fabric R strips onto the remaining opposite sides of quilt center.#10. Sew 2 (3 3/4" x 77 1/2") fabric E strips onto the oppo-site sides of quilt center. Sew 2 (3 3/4" x 84") fabric E strips onto the remaining opposite sides of quilt center.Outer border. Sew 2 (4 1/2" x 84") fabric B strips onto the opposite sides of quilt center. Sew 2 (4 1/2" x 92") fabric B strips onto the remaining opposite sides of quilt cen-ter to complete quilt top.

Finishing Directions:1. With the backing fabric laying taut, place batting and then quilt top to form quilt sandwich. Baste quilt sandwich.2. Quilt as desired.

3. Square up quilt before binding with fabric Y.
