Dear Parents,
SCIENCE ALIVE
Last week our Pre-primary students worked in small groups outdoors examining and
recording interesting finds using their magnifying glasses. This work was guided by
Michelle who loves seeing the kids so energised and excited by their finds. They
certainly had lots of information to share.
PINK STUMPS
Our school students, parents and staff came dressed resplendently in their pink
to support the McGrath Foundation. Much fun was had with the students winning
by four runs!
Congratulations to everyone and thanks for getting with the spirit of the day!
The total money raised from Pink
Stumps Day was $559.30.
This included the $161.50 of that
was raised from the P&C sausage sizzle.
Thanks to all of our fabulous P&C Volunteers!
ANZAC Service at Golden Bay Primary School
On Wednesday 5 April at 09:00am we will hold our school ANZAC Service. We welcome parents and community members to our
service. We will have many special guests in attendance and would respectfully ask that Service members and their family join with
the special guests at the front of the assembly on the day. Hospitality will follow the official service and laying of wreaths.
The final day of school for Term 1 is Friday 7 April with students returning on Wednesday 26 April. I wish all of our families a safe and
relaxing holiday.

VERY IMPORTANT - School Car Parks
We are very fortunate to have a total of 96 car parking bays
for parents and visitors in the Tangadee Road and Arizona
Parade car parks down either side of the school. A further 28
indented parallel bays can be accessed roadside.
For safety reasons I allocated the car park at the front of the
school on Thundelarra Drive as a ‘Staff Only’ car park. A
number of families cross in the ‘walk area’ of the car park at
the start and finish of school.
Additionally, we have had four staff cars accidently damaged
by people in a hurry when using the staff car parking area and
one incident where a car smashed in to our front fencing at
home time.
With good reason, I respectfully ask that parents not use this
car park at all, unless they have a child with a disability
requiring close parking.

School Banking day is Friday. Remember, Friday is School Banking day and students should bring in their weekly deposit. For every deposit made at school, students will receive a silver
Dollarmites token. Once students have individually collected 10 tokens
they can redeem them for an exclusive School Banking reward item in
recognition of their regular savings habits.
School Banking is also a great fundraiser for our school, raising 5% on
every deposit made through the school (to a maximum of $10 per
individual deposit).
If your child has lost their book, they can bring their money to school in a sealed envelope with a note
on the next School Banking day. We will issue them with a replacement.
School Banking day is every Friday from 8.15am until 8.30am outside the conference room (behind
the office).
If you would like to know more about School Banking, please ask for a 2017 School Banking program
information pack from the P&C or visit commbank.com.au/schoolbanking
Getting involved in School Banking is easy!
All you need to get involved in the School Banking program is a Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver
account. You can open an account for your child in one of two ways:
1. Online
Visit commbank.com.au/schoolbanking and click on the link to open a Youthsaver account
2. In branch
Visit a Commonwealth Bank branch with identification for yourself and your child, like a driver’s
licence and birth certificate
This year, School Banking is running a Future Savers Grand Prize competition that will take one lucky
School Banker all the way to Tokyo, Japan. The winner gets an unforgettable family trip, for up to two
adults and three children.
How to enter: Simply make 15 or more School Banking deposits before the end of Term 3, 2017 and
you’ll automatically receive an entry into the competition for your chance to win.
Thank you for supporting the School Banking program at Golden Bay Primary.

UNIFORM SHOP
From Monday 27 February 2017 there will be a change to the procedure for the purchase of school uniforms.
Parents and carers are asked to come to Administration to complete an order form and pay for uniforms (preferably by EFTPOS).
Parents are then to collect the uniforms from the Uniform Shop in the Undercover Area.
Uniforms will no longer be available from Administration.
The Uniform Shop is run by volunteers from our P&C and will be
open Monday's between 8.15-8.40am.
If you are unable to attend the Uniform Shop on Monday's during these hours, uni-forms can still be ordered and paid for at Administration and will be given to your children on the next Monday.
Please consider this new procedure when new uniforms are required.
Thank you.

Next Week’s OSH Activities
Program Update
End of term disco!
We will be having our end of term disco on THURSDAY 6TH APRIL! Don’t forget to book your child in to join the fun.
Reminders.
Sun Smart
Please be reminded that OSHClub policy is that all children require a hat during play outside in all terms and holiday
programs in WA. We are aware that the teachers like the children to leave their hats in the classroom, however if you
could please remind the teachers that they need their hats at OSH, or you are welcome to bring in a hat to keep at
OSHClub with your child/s name written on it. We do have sun cream for all children, however if your child has an allergy
or requires specific sun creams please let us know.
Donations always welcomed
If you have any toys, games or sports equipment laying around that is still in working condition and needs a new home,
we would love to take them off your hands! Just drop into block 4’s wet area during operating hours.
Also recyclables that you go through on a weekly basis are always welcomed as we have lots of creative minds that can
turn your recyclable trash into treasures.
We have been having a wonderful time this term at OSHClub, as our numbers grow, we are continually welcoming new
friendly faces to our program. Over the past weeks this term we have been focusing on encouraging the children to be-
come strong in their social, emotional and physical wellbeing. The children love working in teams to play various sports
games outside and also doing lots of craft activities inside. We are looking forward to the rest of the year and meeting
lots of new children at golden bay primary school.

Dear Parents and Carers
YOU MAY BE ELIGIBLE TO JOIN A SAVINGS PROGRAM THAT MATCHES EVERY
DOLLAR YOU SAVE, UP TO $500.
As you may be aware, the Department of Education supports parents to provide
financially for their children and refers families to community and government
organisations that can offer additional support to families. Saver Plus, Australia's largest
matched savings program, is one such program and assists people to save for
education expenses by matching their savings dollar for dollar up to $500.
Saver Plus was developed by the Brotherhood of St Laurence and the ANZ Bank in
2002 and is delivered by The Smith Family and the Brotherhood of St Laurence in
Western Australia. More than 32 000 people across Australia have participated in the
program, saving over $17.3 million.
The Department wishes to offer eligible parents the opportunity to participate in Saver
Plus.
What this means for you
Saver Plus is a free ten month program that provides financial education, budgeting and
savings tips, and matches your savings up to $500 for education costs. Saver Plus can
help you:
build your skills around managing money;
become a regular saver; and
reach a savings goal.
Once you finish the program, ANZ will match your savings dollar for dollar, up to $500.
You can use your matched savings for education-related costs, such as, computers,
laptops, and tablets, school uniforms, text books, sports fees and equipment, school
excursions and more.
Can I join?
You may be eligible to join if you meet all of the below criteria:
have a Centrelink Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card;
are at least 18 years old;
have some regular income from work (yourself or your partner) including casual,
part-time, full-time or seasonal work; and
have a child at school or attend vocational education yourself.
Please note: a family may receive matched funds only once.
Hear what past Saver Plus participants had to say
”With one child at high school and four children in primary school I found it extremely
difficult to find the money for school costs. Participating in Saver Plus has really taken
away the stress of these costs.”
