● Maintenance: These relationships require effort over a period of time to stay afloat.

● Mutually valuable relationships: The focus is not just on your benefit, but on both sides benefitting from the relationship.

1. Have a well-rehearsed description of your skills, experience, and professional goals

2. Set a realistic goal for the networking opportunity.

3. Ask open-ended questions.
