For Social Responsibility Upcoming in November and December GET A CLUE: MAY 30-JUNE 2 This exciting week of scavenger hunts will have campers solving riddles and finding clues. Campers will use their teamwork and problem-solving skills to complete the daily challenges, culminating in a scavenging extravaganza. CHALLENGE WEEK: JUNE 5-9 Campers will enjoy spirited competition as this week is full of challenges, Amazing Race, Fear Factor and Survivor food eating challenges! THIS OR THAT: JUNE 12-16 It’s your choice… this or that? Fishing or painting nails? Tye Dye or swimming? A full week of choices. OUTDOOR: JUNE 19-23 Discover the great outdoors and have fun with trail mix, fishing, sidewalk chalk and nature explorations! Nature projects, hiking and exploring the great outdoors will all be part of the fun this week. CRANE RIVER: JUNE 26-30 We are partnering with the Crane River Theater Group of Kearney for this camp that gives children the opportunity to explore the art of music, theater and drama. Family and friends are invited to a performance the final day. Grades K-2: A Week With Frog and Toad Grades 3-5: The World of Harry Potter MAD SCIENCE: JULY 10-14 Kids will put on safety glasses and a lab coat for some Ooey gooey & slimy activities as they learn how to make volcanoes erupt, what oobleck is, how to make gak and more! Add in messy games and activities for a slimy, grimy, goopy and magical experience. SPLASH: JULY 17-21 There’s no better way to spend a hot summer day than in the water. Wet N’ Wild fun including water games, swimming, slip-n-slides, water balloons and everything wet! Field trip to Hastings Water Park included this week. PAY IT FORWARD: JULY 24-28 Has anybody ever done something nice for you? Pay it forward! This week campers will have the opportunity to give back to the community and have fun doing so. Campers will participate in a Community Service project. COWBOYS AND INDIANS: JULY 31-AUGUST 4 Round ‘em up, Partner! We’ll take a trip out West this week of camp! Discover the great outdoors and some local history. From cowboy/cowgirl crafts to western-themed games, kids will be saying “yee-haw!” in no time. HOLIDAY HUBALOO: AUG. 7-11 Easter eggs, a leprechaun treasure hunt, a white Christmas and a Halloween costume party all in one week. Kids will be feeling the holiday spirit after this camp. CAMP REWIND: AUGUST 14-15 Celebrate the last two days of summer with all the best highlights of summer camp 2017! PRESCHOOL CAMPS MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMPS ENTREPRENEURSHIP CAMP: MAY 23, 24, 25, 30, 31 & JUNE 1 Time: 9 a.m.-Noon. Kids ages 10-14 can start their own businesses in this camp that teaches them about developing a product or service, philanthropy, marketing and customer service. Entrepreneurship expo Thursday evening June 1 at the Farmers Market. Fee: $40 YMCA or 4-H members/$70 Non Members TEEN MINDSET MATTERS: MAY 23, 24, 25, 30, 31 & JUNE 1 Time: 1-4 p.m. This class empowers teens to accomplish the extraordinary with the entrepreneurial mindset. Participants will learn how to recognize opportunities, put ideas into action and choosing the type of life they want to live. Ages: 14+. Fee: $149 ($100 grants available) PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB: JUNE 6 & 8, 20 & 22 AND JULY 6, 18 & 20 Learn the basics of photography and have fun with the photo scavenger hunt. Register by July 5. For anyone 12 and older. LEADERS IN TRAINING: JUNE 12 & 13 Time: 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Kids in grades 6-8 will discover leadership potential and make a difference in the community in this camp. Besides learning a good work-ethic and teamwork skills, class includes volunteer opportunities and the option to serve as a Y junior summer camp counselor. Fee: $10 for YMCA or 4-H members/ $20 Non -Members BABY-SITTING CLINIC: JUNE 21-22 Time: 9 a.m.-Noon. A workshop for girls and boys ages 9-14 to learn the basics of baby-sitting, including safety tips, creative play ideas, and feeding and caring for infants, toddlers and young children. Offered in conjunction with University of Nebraska Extension in Phelps County. Fee: $18 Y or 4-H Members/$32 Non-Members. FULL DAY CAMPS Time: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Grades: K-5 Location: YMCA at R7 Early Learning Center Fee: $90 per week Members $125 per week Non-Members Extended Care: For your convenience and piece of mind, Before & After Care provides campers with supervised, unstructured activity prior to and following regular camp hours. Extended Care Hours: 6-9 a.m. and 4-7 p.m. There is no additional charge for Summer Day Camp Before & After Care. Please indicate extended care needed when registering child. NEW! DELICIOUS DELIGHTS: JUNE 26-29 Little chefs will learn cleanliness, nutrition, cooking terms, measuring, helping, creating, sharing and EATING in this food-lovers camp. Please send campers in appropriate clothing or an apron that allows for freedom of expression. Location: First Presbyterian Church. LET’S BUILD IT: JULY 10-13 What can’t we build with? Use Legos, blocks, sticks and stones, newspaper, cardboard, and whatever else we might find. We’ll even take things apart just to rebuild them, or use the parts to build something new! HARRY POTTER: JULY 24-27 Welcome to a wonderful week of Hogwarts! Campers will make their own magic wands, play group games, learn magic tricks and make wizard crafts. Harry Potter fans won’t want to miss this camp. MERMAID CAMP: JULY 31-AUGUST 3 Ever wish you didn’t have those pesky legs? Kids will have fun learning myths and legends from the mermaid world and can unleash their creativity making mermaid bracelets. Swimming and water games are also planned, swim like a mermaid and play water games! Time: 9-11 a.m. JEDI KNIGHT CAMP: AUGUST 7-10 Travel with us to a galaxy far, far away to learn the ways of the Jedi Knights! Kids will build their own Light- sabers, fight the empire and learn about the force. HALF DAY CAMPS Preschoolers will be learning, growing and having fun in the YMCA’s summer enrichment camps. The camps will engage young minds and help them make new friendships.
