9 Aces to a Fitter you!

We all know that how essential exercise is besides the fact that it keeps us fit it also boosts our physical and mental health. But mustering up the courage to doing it is one hell of a task. You gotta ignore that lazy voice inside you that keeps popping in your head: “Not today man……….tomorrow it is!”

All you need is just a spark of motivation empowering enough to get your butt off that couch. Here are 9 ways as to how you can achieve it:

1. Set simple Goals

If you’re a newbie who has just started working out, try setting goals which are easily accomplished. Smaller goals are achieved quickly and give you a greater sense of satisfaction, hence motivating you to come back for better and bigger goals.

You can do this simply by exercising for 20-30 minutes twice or thrice a week instead of trying to work out for an hour daily.

2. Be body confident

Don’t underestimate your body and your abilities. You might come across people of various shapes and sizes while at the gym whose figure might appear more appealing to you it terms of fitness and flexibility. Don’t get under confident and start comparing your body to theirs, you just started working out these people have been working out for months hence the outcome is in front of you. Just focus on your work out, erase them from your memory. Thinking about them will sway you away from achieving the true purpose of your exercise regimen. Remember that your fitness routine should only revolve around YOU.

3. Make a journal

Start keeping track of your workouts. Either record it on your smartphone, tablet or just an old register. Time your exercises and write them down. This would help you have a

better insight of your progress and your improvements and places where you need to focus harder. This will help you going to achieving a better and fitter you.

4. Don’t let shame get in your way

Life is not always smooth there are certain setbacks in life. So if you ever have to miss a day or three of your fitness routine. Don’t stress out or let guilt overcome you. Learn to accept it.Don’t let it become an excuse of you walking out of your workout plan. Don’t let a misstep be an excuse for giving up.

5. Build a strong support system

Surround yourself with people ….family, friends and co-workers who encourage you to stay motivated on achieving your goal.

6. Add a fun twist to it

Try picking that exercises you love the most and look forward to doing them everyday. There are times you feel you aren’t motivated enough than change your routine. Pick up an activity that suits you and satisfies you the most. Workout doesn’t involve going to the gym only you can cycle in your neighborhood or take a walk or jog in the park or even dance, all these really help you shed off those extra kilos.

7. Divide it down

Instead of one very long workout try having mini work-out sessions during any time of the day, you can have one in the morning, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. This will help you be more active all day and not drain your energy after one long workout.

8. Make life easy

If you don’t feel like going to the gym or are too busy to drive there .There are always alternatives you can watch online workout videos in place- this will help you save time. Also if you’re too drained out to work out after work then try getting up early to exercise, become a morning person.

9. Erase the past

Who doesn’t hate their sixth grade pictures back when we were all hitting puberty, with hormones raging through our bodies making us appear plump and often being rated as

the fat kid. Most of us were often chosen last during P.E owing to a lack of interest in gymnastics class, thanks to our physique. But that happened ages ago. It’s just sort of history now!!Don’t let old memories swept over your present self. As Bill Keane rightly said: “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.” Remember your current goal is to exercise to get in good shape, stay healthy and enjoy your life to the fullest!!
