Children grow up with songs and rhymes anddevelop their first language by them.
songs and rhymes are the first experienced parts ofcommunication in the childrens mother tongue.
They listen and react to nursery rhymes and fingergames spoken and often acted by their parents.
So songs and rhymes give them an intimatefeeling, a special connection with their human
environment and influence the acquisition of theirfirst language in a specific way.

Pay attention to playing, not to learning
Children
Even if a teacher decides to correct
some important mistakes,
they do not feel uncomfortable, because the game is the most important.

Many of them are too shy
to repeat he same words
in the presence of other pupils
in the classroom.
So, they would rathernot say a word
than be wrong or incorrect
They do not practice and
do not improvetheir pronunciation and
language.
Pupils who start learning a second language
meet certain barriers:
Finding ways to
breakdown their
fearis very
important for itmakes it possible
to teach them a
foreign language
and make them
learn all by
themselves.

Not all teachers are able to readnotes and to work out new songs. Therefore songs should be animportant element in furthervocational teacher training.
The department of educationshould provide enough moneyfor CDs and appropriateequipment for English lessons.
A good help for quite unmusicalteachers is to transfer new textsinto well-known melodies.
