    MDMManual start unit

    MDM

The MDM unit from CRE Tech-nology is a basic, microproces-sor controlled unit designed to start and stop the genset ma-nually using the key switch and pushbu ons on the front panel. It has high power relay outputs enabling it to interface directly with diesel gensets.

When the engine is running, the unit monitors fault condi- ons and shuts down the en-gine automa cally if an alarm occurs. The alarms are iden -fi ed by LEDs.

This unit is perfect for backup mode solu on.

A SIMPLE PRODUCT FOR BASIC APPLICATIONSThe manual start and stop sequences have been reduced to their simplest form. The front panel provides RUN and OFF posi ons, with a preheat but-ton when required. This bu on is also used in the energize to stop mode. The alarm LEDs show any engine fault condi ons: overspeed, underspeed, high engine temperature, low oil pressure, auxiliary shutdown.

ENERGIZE TO STOP CONTROLThe MDM is also able to control Energize to Stop engines. When the Energize to Stop op on is selected, the auxiliary relay output will be energized during the stop mer and the led associated with this condi on will be turned on.The choice of engine type is made using a jumper switch.

50/60 HZ COMPATIBILITYThe limits for the correct generator frequency are 25 to 57 Hz when in 50Hz opera on and 25 to 68Hz for 60Hz opera on.

RELIABLE AND SIMPLEThe MDM is dedicated to basic applica ons which require no extra costs or expensive hardware. The MDM has passed EMC and low voltage tests, and all units are 100% tested before delivery.

    Auto transfertswitch unit

    MNS

Simple and e ec ve unit

    3 phase mains voltage monitoring

    Adjustable voltage with poten ometer

    Remote start output

The MNS is a basic, micropro-cessor controlled unit designed to monitor 3-phase mains voltages, send remote start commands to the genera ng set, and manage changeover of both the generator and the mains contactors.

The genset should be controlled by a Remote Start control unit.

A SIMPLE PRODUCT FOR BASIC APPLICATIONSThe func ons have been reduced to the minimum. The front panel mimic dia-gram provides informa on about the mains and generator power availability as well as contactor posi ons.The MNS con nuously monitors the AC mains phase voltages. If at least one of the phase voltages goes outside set limits, it triggers a transfer cycle.

SPECIAL TEST MODE FUNCTIONThe MNS provides a TEST mode pushbu on allowing the genset to be tested without a mains failure. The Test mode is also called the Emergency Backup mode which keeps the genset running and makes a quick transfer in the event of a mains failure.

HIGH COMPATIBILITY AND FLEXIBILITYBecause of the simplicity of its connec ons, the MNS may be used with most commercially available or custom built engine control systems. The lower limit of the mains and genset voltages may be manually adjusted via the poten ometer found on the le hand side of the unit. The upper voltage limit is factory set.The unit uses two part connectors for easy replacement

RELIABLE AND EASY TO USEThe MNS is dedicated to basic applica ons which require no extra costs or expensive hardware. All CRE Technology products aim to provide the same sa sfac on levels. The MNS has passed EMC and low voltage tests, and each unit is 100% tested be-fore delivery.

CRE provides a global solu on for engine diagnos cs, control and maintenance: the BSM II.

A complete confi gurable elec-tronic unit that integrates all the func ons necessary for the control of an engine powered installa on in a compact mo-dule.

INTERNAL PLCThe embedded PLC enables the processing of internal or external variables and the wri ng of equa ons to generate thresholds, events, and alarms, or to detect faults.

DATA MONITORINGData monitoring can be done via an Internet browser or standard spreadsheet so ware (PC connec on or electronic diary). Thanks to its integrated HTML web server communica on, the BSM II is com-pa ble with all opera ng systems.

YEARS OF RECORDSThe parameters can be recorded and archived indefi nitely in the BSM II mem-ory (FIFO), thus preserving the "life history" of the plant or engine. This memory is password protected. The data is stored in a fl ash memory. An internal backup ba ery maintains me and date.

ARCHIVING MODESThe archiving func on has 4 op ons:

Circular archiving:Parameters which are chosen by the user are recorded with date and hour at specifi ed intervals.Event archiving:Selected parameter values are stored before and a er the event. The user can choose the number of records and the interval between each of them.

Counter:Records and counts the number of opera ng hours. Other counters such as the number of starts can be pro-grammed easily with equa ons.Iden fi ca on plate:Records details of the plant and the engines such as serial number, engine type, dates...

Synch check relayFront panel confi gurable50/60 Hz compa bilityBasic unit

The SCR is a microprocessor controlled synchroscope with programmable synch check relay in a DIN72 front panel mounted package. It monitors the voltage and frequency of 2 indepen-dent power networks as well as the instantaneous phase angle between them.

The measured parameters are displayed on the 3 digit digital display. The 24 led circular syn-chroscope displays the phase angle between the 2 networks. The synchroscope display is only ac vated if both network volta-ges are within the set limits.

The SCR is mainly used in manual genset synchroniza on applica- ons for synchroniza on chec-king between a genset and the genset busbar or between the genset busbar and the mains.

A SIMPLE PRODUCT FOR BASIC FUNCTIONSSynchroniza on checking is enabled either via the SYNCH CHECK ENABLE signal input or by pressing the front panel SYNCH pushbu on.If all the necessary condi ons are sa sfi ed for 4 consecu ve busbar cycles then the SYNCH CHECK relay will be energized immediately. If the busbar is not powered up, synch checking may be overridden with the DEAD BUS ENABLE signal input.

FRONT PANEL CONFIGURATIONThe SCR module provides a comprehensive set of digitally adjustable threshold levels and mers. All se ngs are modifi ed via front panel push-bu ons, and do not require an external unit. The MENU pushbu on al-lows the digital display to navigate between various measured param-eters.

FEATURESSynch check relayUNIGEN and UNIGEN PLUS monitor the voltage, fre-quency, phase di erences and phase sequence protec- on between the generator to be paralleled and the bus bar. The synch check relay authorizes the closing of the generator breaker either in Automa c or Manual mode.

Automa c and manual synchronisa onThe automa c mode of UNIGEN and UNIGEN PLUS modifi es the voltage, the frequency, and the phase to achieve quick and precise coupling. Using the manual mode, the speed can be adjusted by an external 10 k poten ometer.

GENSETS WITH MAINSWhen several generators are paralleled with mains, the MASTER 2.0 is used (using CAN bus communica on) for: Three phase mains failure Paralleled gensets with several mains

control Electrical protec on for power plant

and mains Electrical parameters display for

power plant and mains Manual and automa c paralleling

with mains (frequency, phase and voltage)

Power factor control when paralleling with mains.

kW power management with several modes:

No break change over with load transfer

Permanent paralleling in base load Permanent paralleling in peak

    shaving mode (export/import)

In less than 10 seconds, your power plant in standby mode starts all the gensets and fully synchronizes them, meanwhile the breakers are closing on the bus bars.

Fast response me for heavy load requests. Sta c paralleling can be necessary for large electric motor or turbine star ng. It is also very useful when loads cannot be shed, in hospitals or heavy industries. In less sensi ve industries, a smaller UPS can be used, reducing investment and maintenance costs, without extra investment on the genset power plant side.

Progressive magne za on of the step-up transformers. The transformer is magne zed with a low voltage before receiving the genset power. Your power plant benefi ts from important cost gains (cable, transformer consump on) and be er e ciency (quick power plant availability, more stable power...).

CRE Technology is familiar with this specifi ca on which is included as standard in the GENSYS 2.0.
