Our Annual Trunk or Treat will take place Saturday, October 27th from 5- 7pm. This is always a huge outreach for our church and community. It takes all of us to make it work. We need Candy donations and decorated trunks to pass out candy. Sign up in the Welcome Center. We often see our God as just a bigger, more powerful, much smarter version of ourselves. We do this to the detriment of our own faith. Simp- ly, our God (or our vision/understanding of God) is too small. Think with me how powerful God has to be to create the known universe. Scientist now tell us that there are 3 septillion stars. Let me right that out for you: 24,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (24 zeroes). That number is be- yond our comprehension, but there are that many suns producing as much, or more energy than our own sun. We have trouble fathoming numbers bigger than a trillion, so lets break it down. What were you doing a million seconds ago? This is roughly 11 days ago. I dont know about you, but I have trouble remembering exactly what I did a few days ago. How about a billion seconds ago? That equals 31 years and 8 months ago. (Heres a reminder) The Compact Disc Player was just being released on the market, the Jedi (Star Wars) were returning for the very first time. Lets go a trillion seconds ago now. This is about 72 BC, so we get a pic- ture of the difference between million, billion, and trillion. Now remember that there are 3,000 billion, trillion stars. So back to our initial question: How Powerful is God? So again, we compare Gods power to our own, because that is our only measuring stick. You and I cant create anything from nothing, (no human can) but God created all of this and so much more. God just said, Let there be light, and POW!! There it was. God is more than an inventor, figuring out things. He is Creator with power that we cant even fathom. My point today is more than God is Really Powerful!!! My point is that God is more than powerful enough to handle the things that I cannot. He is more than powerful enough to handle all of our stuff at the same time. My point is this: Trust God, and let His power rule your life. He is Creator God, Savior God, and Sustainer God. Our Annual Trunk or Treat will take place Saturday, October 27th from 5-7pm.

Simp-ly, our God (or our vision/understanding of God) is too small. Think with me how powerful God has to be to create the known universe. Scientist now tell us that there are 3 septillion stars. Let me right that out for you:

24,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (24 zeroes). That number is be-

yond our comprehension, but there are that many suns producing as much, or more energy than our own sun. We have trouble fathoming numbers bigger than a trillion, so let’s break it down.

What were you doing a million seconds ago? This is roughly 11

days ago. I don’t know about you, but I have trouble remembering exactly what I did a few days ago. How about a billion seconds ago? That equals 31 years and 8 months ago. (Here’s a reminder) The Compact Disc Player was just being released on the market, the Jedi (Star Wars) were returning for the very first time. Let’s go a trillion seconds ago now. This is about 72 BC, so we get a pic-ture of the difference between million, billion, and trillion. Now remember that there are 3,000 billion, trillion stars.

So back to our initial question: How Powerful is God? So again, we

compare God’s power to our own, because that is our only measuring stick. You and I can’t create anything from nothing, (no human can) but God created all of this and so much more. God just said, “Let there be light,” and POW!! There it was. God is more than an inventor, figuring out things. He is Creator with power that we can’t even fathom.

My point today is more than God is Really Powerful!!! My point is that

God is more than powerful enough to handle the things that I cannot. He is more than powerful enough to handle all of our stuff at the same time. My point is this: Trust God, and let His power rule your life. He is Creator God, Savior God, and Sustainer God.

GAP Christmas Trip 2018 We are a little over 2 months away from our annual Christmas trip to the Gods’ Appalachian Partnership (GAP) in McDowell, KY! It’s hard to believe it’s already time to start planning and preparing our hearts for the blessings that will come! Dates are in place and are as follows:

Sunday through Thursday, December 2nd – 6th Working the Toy store and helping with distribution. Monday, December 10th Parent Store – kids shop for parents

I am honored to be leading the trip again this year with the help of Susan Forman and Peggy Sorrell! Thanks ladies! It is time to start thinking about Christmas and early planning makes for a successful holiday season. So… when you see toys on clear-ance or an item that would be perfect for one of the teens, or you see a great clearance item for mom or dad, go on and pick it up! Take advantage of those “buy any item get one free” coupons (Harbor Freight.) These are great for Dad! If you would prefer to give a monetary gift to purchase food and/or gifts for distribution, please place your gift in the offering plate marked clearly for GAP FOOD. As always, all contributions are greatly appreciated.

November 4th, the “Dollar @ the Door” offering will be for GAP. November 18th and 25th we will collect toys, teen gifts, and par-ent gifts. The 25th will be the last day for collection.

Information letters containing dates, costs and miscellaneous in-formation will be available on the bulletin board on October 7th. There will also be a list of items needed for distribution, food, cleaning supplies, etc… Until then, if you have questions or want further information, feel free to contact me at [email protected], / (859)445-1227, or see Susan For-man or Peggy Sorrell.

Thanks in advance for your giving! Let’s make this another record year for the GAP!

Global Hunger Relief Transforming and saving lives

around the globe. Global Hunger Relief is a partnership of seven Southern Baptist organizations to combat hunger around the globe. It is not an organization, but a cooperative initiative involving Baptist Global Response, the International Mission Board, the North American Mission Board, the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, Woman’s Missionary Union, LifeWay and the Executive Committee. One-hundred percent of money given goes directly to the hunger projects. Clean water projects, food pantries, seed and livestock distribution, and many other projects run by our Southern Baptist missionaries and ministry partners receive the donations given to GHR. About 795 million peo-ple are undernourished globally. One in six people in the United States struggle with hunger. And there are Southern Baptists working in a variety of ways around the world to address this crisis. UBC Donations will be received dur-ing October.

Senior Adult Luncheon UBC Senior Adults will be traveling to Smithville, KY for Lunch @ “Our Best Restaurant” on October 27th. They will leave at 10:30am and be back in time for “Trunk or Treat”.

Make it count! This is our time on the history line of God. This is it. What will we do with the one deep exhale of God on this earth? For we are but a vapor and we have to make it count. We’re on. Direct us, Lord, and get us on our feet. —Beth Moore

Stick with it! “If I’ve learned anything about friendship, it’s to hang in, stay connected,” says journal-ist Jon Katz. “Don’t walk away, don’t be dis-tracted, don’t be too busy or tired, don’t take them for granted. Friends are part of the glue that holds life and faith together.” This applies to church life too. When we’re annoyed by some aspect of congregational life or caught in conflict with other members, it’s tempting to drift away to an-other church — or no church. Even when all is fine, we sometimes let church take a back seat. But our bonds with the family of God are “part of the glue that holds life and faith together.” For the sake of the benefits we gain and give, may we “hang in [and] stay connected” with our church family. May we not “walk away [or] be distracted, ... be too busy or tired.” May we not take one another for granted but thank God for this “glue” — even when things get a bit sticky!
