Book pages will be displayed in the Great Hall. All materials provided. June 29: The Woman Who Outshone the Sun (English/Spanish) Adapted from a poem by Alejandro Cruz Martinez, illustrated by Fernando Olivera Art technique: Wet felting ~ Use colorful dyed fibers to make an art piece suitable for framing while exploring why fish vary in size, shape, and color. July 20: Agua, Agüita /Water, Little Water (Spanish/English/Nahuat) Written by Jorge Tetl Argueta, illustrated by Felipe Ugalde Alcántara Art technique: Decorative papers and collage ~ Make a winding river collage with colorful patterned papers inspired by the travels of a drop of water. August 24: Water Dance Written and illustrated by Thomas Locker Art technique: Watercolor resist ~ Try several types of watercolor resist and follow water through its journey between earth and sky. September 21: Water is Water Written by Miranda Paul, illustrated by Jason Chin Art technique: Gel printing ~ Water is everywhere. Did you know that an oak tree is about 75% water? Make exquisite mono-prints with oak (and other) leaves. October 12: A Drop of Water Written and illustrated by Gordon Morrison Art technique: Weaving ~ Make a small nature-weaving using plants and grasses like those living near our ponds, streams, marshes, and swamps. For ages 6 and up, accompanied by an adult. Teens and adults welcome too! Join us for one session, more, or the full series.
