The Path to Revival
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble them-selves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).
This familiar text is more than simply fodder for convention sermons. It is a formula for revival. Revival is more than just a series of protracted meetings. It is a matter of spiritual life and death for our churches and our nation.
During this convention five preachers will examine this text from the following perspectives:
• The Problem Reviewed—A look at the historical context that prompt-ed God to outline this path to revival.
• The People Responsible—God places the responsibility for revival squarely on our shoulders.
• The Prerequisite Required—Humility and prayer are essential ingre-dients for revival. They go hand-in-hand.
• The Prescription Recommended—Seeking God’s face and turning from wickedness is a call for action on our part.
• The Promise Revealed—If we meet His conditions, God has prom-ised to hear our prayer, forgive our sin, and heal our land.
Some are convinced revival cannot come in our day. To them I respond with the words of the angel Gabriel in Luke 1:37, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” I invite you to join me in prayer, asking God to meet with us in Kansas City and put us on The Path to Revival.
Keith Burden, CMP Executive Secretary
