Libya's state-owned mobile phone operator al-Madar launched the first 4G services in the North African country, a rare investment in a country hit by years of political turmoil and violence.

Finnish telecom gear maker Nokia said that it is working with BSNL to implement the next level of industrial automation, leveraging 4G LTE technology to enable greater operational efficiency at Nokia’s Chennai plant.

SAMSUNGSAMSUNG ELECTRONICS TO CARRY OUT 5G TRIAL IN INDIA IN H1 2019

Korean telecom gear maker Samsung Electronics announced plans to carry out 5G field trials in New Delhi, India, in the first half of the next year, Indian press reported. The company said it is currently working with India’s Department of Telecommunications to implement the future 5G trials.

ERICSSON,ERICSSON, FUJITSU INK 5G PARTNERSHIP TO TARGET THE JAPANESE MARKET

Swedish vendor Ericsson and Japanese company Fujitsu have entered an agreement to deliver end-to-end 5G network solutionssolutions and related services under a strategic partnership. Under the partnership, the two companies are joining forces to develop 5G solutions based on their combined portfolios, for the 5G market in Japan.

T-MOBILE PARTNERS WITH TWILIO ON NB-IOT DEVELOPER PLATFORM

TT-Mobile’s partnership with Twilio bears fruit in the form of a software development kit for the operator’s NB-IoT network. A partnership was formed between T-Mobile and Twilio back in May 2016 but until now it’s produced very little. The companies now appear to be making up for lost time.

NTT DOCOMO SELECTS ANRITSU FOR 5G TESTING SYSTEMS

JJapanese carrier NTT DoCoMo has formally adopted Anritsu’s equipment for 5G testing. The Japanese carrier said it will use Anritsu’s 5G New Radio RF Conformance Test System ME7873NR platform as its first 5G NR RF test system.

AAT&T, T-MOBILE US, VERIZON TO TAKE PART IN UPCOMING MILLIMETER WAVE AUCTIONS

Three of the big four U.S. mobile operators—AT&T, T-Mobile US and Verizon Wireless—will take part in the U.S. Federal Communication Commission’s upcoming millimeter wave auctions,auctions, which cover frequencies in the 24 GHz and 28 GHz bands. Auction 101, which covers the 28 GHz band, is set to kick-off on Nov. 14, and be immediately followed by Auction 102 covering the 24 GHz licenses.

SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS BUYS AI TECH FIRM ZHILABS TO BOOST 5G CAPABILITIES

SSamsung Electronics Co said it has bought Barcelona-based network data analysis firm Zhilabs, as the South Korean giant gears up to launch products for connected devices and 5G mobile services that require fast data crunching. Established in 2008, Zhilabs provides analyses of network condition, performance, and data traffic for about 50 telecom companies.

VVODAFONE LAUNCHES FIRST FULL 5G TRIAL IN GREATER MANCHESTER

U.U.K. telecom operator Vodafone claimed to be the first carrier in the country to carry full 5G over a commercial network. The telco said that live mobile data traffic is now being streamed to and from the Internet exclusively over 5G from a site in Salford, Greater Manchester, connected to Vodafone’s nationwide fiber network.

TERTERAGO STARTS 5G TECHNICAL TRIAL IN GREATER TORONTO AREA

Canadian operator TeraGo announced that it will be starting a technical trial in the greater Toronto area utilizing fixed wireless 5G millimeter wave equipment from PHAZR. The trial will use TeraGo’s licensed spectrum in the 24 GHz frequency band. The company operates a national fixed wireless network with thousands of access points acthousands of access points across Canada.
