Firstly, a big thank you for purchasing this product. It’s best to have a quick read through theses instructions to get familiar with the construction techniques If you run out or make a mistake along the way, don’t worry, just give me an e-mail and I’ll do my best to send you a replacement part as soon as possible for the cost of postage and packaging. I’d rather see things finished than stuffed back in the cupboard because you can’t get on. The main parts of the boards laid out before construction. The single pieces with the 3 larger holes are the centre supports. The MDF can be glued using a good wood glue PVA.

The best place to start is with the three centre supports attaching them to the front section. Internal faces should always go on the inside of the board so that they are not visible when the board has been constructed. This allows for the taper of the laser cutter and ensures that all joins are nice and tight.

Make sure that the glue covers all of the edges and joints, and the locating holes which locate the frames together. You can always wipe away any excess glue with kitchen towel if needed to keep things neat and tidy.

Glue all three middle sections into the front panel and leave for a few minutes to allow the glue to grab.

The next step is to locate and glue the top of the board to the sections just completed. Run a bead of glue all along the top of the framework and around the holes which run down the middle of the top board. Squeeze together and wipe off any excess glue.

Again leave it for a few minutes to allow for the glue to grab.

Now it’s time to glue the back board on. Make sure that all of the holes have enough glue on all sides and any surface which will make contact with each other..

Press the back board on firmly and wipe off any excess glue.

The end section can now be glued into place making sure that all surfaces which are in contact with each other have been covered with glue. The two larger holes have been cut to allow the fitting of engineers dowels for an accurate alignment. The centre hole is for a 6mm diameter M6 bolt.

The inner backing end piece can be glued onto the inside of the end section. This will help mount the engineers dowels, and also the MDF laser cut dowels which have been supplied as a cheaper alternative to the metal versions. The left end and right end Lite Scenic boards have side ends which differ from the middle boards. This is glued into position in the same way as the back scene above. The inner backing end piece can also be glued into position.

It’s best to let the boards dry on a flat surface, either using clamps to hold it all together or by hand until the glue grabs or dries. Make sure you don’t glue the boards to the flat surface though! If you can, paint or varnish the boards to seal it before you use it. This will protect it for the future.

The complete Lite Scenic boards ready for track, an easy way to get started with a layout project.
