Go the extra mile

Going the extra mile with an interviewer can really make you stand out above the rest. Make sure you research the company you are

interviewing for, research the role and research the people you are interviewing with. As with many technical roles, if you are asked to do a demo or presentation go above and beyond what they have

asked!

Smile

Quite simply, smile. An interview can be scary but it is not meant to be all doom and gloom, try to smile and your positive energy will

come across to the interviewer.

Look the part

First impressions are always important, and normally they are made within the first 30 seconds of meeting someone new. Make

sure you attend the interview in appropriate clothes, don’t turn up in jeans and trainers for example.

Do your research

Just like going the extra mile, doing your research is essential to having a successful interview. It is really important to demonstrate

that you have taken the time and effort to actually research the company and role. Doing this will also help you feel more prepared.

Think

While a company is interviewing you for a role, remember you are also interviewing them to choose the right company to work for.

Before your interview think about what you really want from a job, and think of the questions you want to ask them.

Be clear, concise and engaging

During the interview, you need to make sure your motivations for wanting to join the company are clear to the interviewer. You want to show them why you want to work there as well as what makes

you the best candidate.

Ask relevant questions

If you have interviewed before you will know that there is always time at the end for you to ask your questions. Make sure the

questions you ask are thought out and are relevant to the role you are interviewing for, leave the questions about salary and hours for a follow up. By asking relevant questions you are showing you are

serious about the role.
