Some Things Must Be Handled By The Customer

In the weeks prior to your move,

there are several tasks that you can

do to make sure you are prepared

for a swift and efficient loading day.

Here you’ll find tips for preparing common yet frequently overlooked

household items, as well as a list of goods that you’ll more than likely need

to move on your own.

Valuables

Anything you own which you consider to be extraordinarily valuable should

be moved by you personally to ensure its protection. This includes items

such as :

● Money

● Jewelry

● Collectables

● Sentimental items

● Birth certificates, passports and other documents

Wine & Spirits

Conditions in the trailer are not ideal for wine and certain spirits because

temperatures can easily fluctuate. It is recommended that you personally

transport any wine that you have as well as any open containers, and

discuss any other forms of alcohol with your mover.

The Garage

Your lawn mower and any other gasoline-

powered engines must be emptied of gas

and oil, and if you have any gas cans, they

should be emptied and rinsed out to

avoid fumes.

If you plan to ship a vehicle, make sure the gas tank is no more than 1/4 full.

Also, your barbeque grill should be free of debris and washed out prior to

loading day.

The Yard

If you’re taking your garden hoses

with your when you move, drain as

much water out of them as

possible and connect the two ends

of the hose together to avoid leaks

in the trailer.

Fixtures

Any item you plan to move that is affixed to the wall or ceiling must be

taken down and packed up before they are shipped. This might include

curtain rods, light fixtures, and ceiling fans.

The Attic

Any belongings you have stored in

the attic must be brought to the

main level prior to loading day. Your

mover won’t be able to access these

areas due to residence damage

liability.

Refrigerators & FreezersBefore the big day, make sure to

empty and defrost your freezers and

refrigerators. Moving these larger

items can be tricky, so give yourself

plenty of time to get this done.

If you’re moving long distance (more

than 50 miles), it’s best to dispose of

all frozen and/or perishable items.
