WHAT IS ISGREE

In the year 1979 The Karimabad Bharat Scout Group was celebrating their Diamond

Jubilee. They approached the then Federal Council now National Council for

permission to organize a Scout/Guide Camp at an International level. Vazir Morani,

President of Federal Council guided the Karimabad group to contact the Youth Board.

Youth Board in co-ordination with the Karimabad Group organized the First All India

Ismaili Scouts and Guides CampoREE (ISGREE). Thus the 1st ISGREE was organized

in the year 1979 at Municipal High Level Campsite, Unit 22, Goregaon, Mumbai.

At the ISGREE it was decided that this type of get together should be held every three

years.

In the year 1982, the 2nd

ISGREE was held at Municipal High Level Campsite, Unit

No.22, Goregaon, Mumbai. This co-incised with the Silver Jubilee Celebration of our

beloved Hazar Imam.

The 3rd

ISGREE was held in the year 1986 at the same venue.

5

As many new units had started in Gujarat and we needed to encourage these Groups

and also to show the other rest of India Groups the culture of Gujarat, the 4th

ISGREE

was organized at Sidhpur in the year 1989.

Due to unavoidable circumstances, after a gap of seventeen years the 5th ISGREE was

organized at Pune, Balewadi in the year 2006.

The 6th ISGREE 2010 was held from November 10

th to November 14

th, 2010 at

Ratanpar Village, Rajkot, Gujarat. The venue was specially selected keeping in mind the

upliftment of the Rural Youth of Saurashtra and hence aiming for the maximum

participation from Northern and Southern Saurashtra Scout and Guide Groups.

The Committee now is pleased to announce the 7th

ISGREE 2013. Which will be

organized at Municipal High Level Camp Site, Unit no. 22, Goregaon, Mumbai 400068,

Maharashtra.

from NSGDC programmes and the same will be reported to your

Mukhisaheb/Kamdiasaheb.

For every participating troop/company Scouts/Guides, 1 Scouter/Guider will be allowed

GETTING BOYS EXCITED ABOUT ISGREE!!!

This can be accomplished in many ways. Several ideas for promotion include:

Hold troop/company fund raising projects to help Scouts and Guides earn part of

their own ISGREE fees including the popcorn or other hygienic stuff sale. A

Scout Guide can pay their entire ISGREE fee by selling popcorn or other

hygienic stuff.

Show slides or videos of previous ISGREEs at meetings. These are available

online at www.nsgdcindia.wordpress.com.

Invite former and current members, Leaders and Scouts and Guides to visit your

group to talk about ISGREE to heighten the boys' girls’ interest.

Invite an ISGREE Promotion Team to one of your group meetings. Contact

your LSGDC or RSGDC convenors or members for assistance with this.

Talk about various specialty programs at ISGREE 2013.

While on a group meeting, have a mini campfire at your group level and share

previous ISGREE songs, stories and more from previous experiences.

Encourage your troop/company to prepare for and compete in ISGREE

competitions.

REQUIREMENTS

The person in charge of your troop/company must be at least 21 years of age. There are no

exceptions. One registered adult leaders 21 years of age or older and certified in YSS, are

required for ISGREE*. The result is more fun for the adults and a better program for the

Scouts and Guides. Preferably, the troop/company should be under the leadership of its

registered Scoutmaster Guide Captain. If the Scoutmaster Guide Captain is unable to attend

full time, the troop/company committee should name an ISGREE Scout Master Guide

Captain. The ISGREE Scout Master Guide Captain works with the Senior Patrol Leader,

and together they develop, Plan and prepare the troop/company for ISGREE program. The

ISGREE Scout Master Guide Captain should participate in the daily leader’s meeting and

will be assigned and coordinated the responsibilities for all the adult leadership at ISGREE

for your unit and other ISGREE committees, if required.

* If your troop/company is having trouble meeting these requirements, contact the NSGDC

Office to make alternate arrangements. We want every youth to attend ISGREE, along with

their leaders.

12

ISGREE LEADER'S MEETING

The ISGREE Leader’s meeting will take place every night in the ISGREE program.

PATROL LEADER'S COUNCIL

All the patrol members along with leaders must attend this meeting in their tent on

scheduled day, date and time, in order to discuss and answer the questionnaire provided at

the camp.

CELL PHONE USAGE POLICY

Over the last couple of years the usage of cellular phones has continued to increase. At

the same time, the band width required at ISGREE 2013 for program needs has increased.

These conflicting demands have led to some unfavorable situations at ISGREE. As a

result, Scouts and Guides are not permitted to have cell phones in ISGREE at any time.

One of the main principles of attending ISGREE is to give boys girls a chance to

experience life in the outdoors

ISGREE organizing team has indicated that Scouts and Guides' cellular phones are

ringing and/or being used to text while the Scouts and Guides are attending

programs and activities. This situation is very disrespectful to the ISGREE

organizing team and is very distracting to the others attending the program and

activities.

If a scout guide is caught with a cell phone, the cell phone will be handed over to

the scout’s leaders and will remain with them until last day afternoon.

If a boy girl gets homesick, the last thing he needs is a method to facilitate easy

contact with home. If the leader decides that a phone call is justified, he will decide

whether to use his cell phone or to take the scout guide to reception and

registration team where the scout guide may use the courtesy phone. Parents are

asked to respect, support, and enforce this policy

If an urgent message must be delivered to a scout guide, please follow the

procedures detailed on the Emergency Contact Information page in this program

guide.

FULL & PART TIME LEADERSHIP NOTES

All adult leaders attending ISGREE must have paid their full ISGREE fee prior to the start

of ISGREE. Part-time adult leaders or helpers must check-in on the day of need at ISGREE

by their troop/company, and checkout on the same day night, by paying Rs. 400.00 Per

Person and registering with Reception and Registration committee mentioning the day and

13

dates of their arrival and departure, prior to the start of ISGREE.

From The Program Convenors

Dear Group Leaders,

We think that ISGREE 2013 is a truly amazing place. You can always return

to ISGREE 2013 and take part in new activities or just take some time to

experience the stunning natural surroundings. We have a wonderful ISGREE

and we plan to provide program and opportunities that will give Scouts and

Guides and scouters the chance to enjoy it.

We have some exciting new activities this year.

Your job before ISGREE is to decide what each scout and scouter wants to do

and register them on-line There may be some tough choices but we want the

opportunity for everyone to have fun earning skills/values and learning about

the great outdoors.

Every ISGREE we look forward to returning to our home at ISGREE. We

hope that the program we provide makes other Scouts and Guides and

scouters guiders want to return to ISGREE each time.
