1 78 Position-based Services MeasurementLocation services in the BSC are either under the Position-based Services software and/or Lb interface to BSC software, and/or S9+ Locationing System software. Lb inter-face to BSC adds support for a third party stand-alone SMLCs. The Position-based Services software adds support for an internal SMLC. The S9+ Locationing System software adds support for Nokia's own GMLC-based locationing method (NSN's iGMLC CD4.0 or later).

From a statistical point of view, location services in the BSC consist of the Location Service interface (LCS interface) and an internal SMLC. The LCS interface handles general tasks related to location services in the BSC. The internal SMLC locates the subscriber and/or valid mobile equipment using conventional GPS or cell identification + TA method. The LCS interface collects information from locationing services in the BSC to be recorded into Position-based Services Measurement.

This measurement is optional.
