Network Setup

Page 10: 76XX Standalone NVR Setup and Operation. Built in POE Switch 802.a/f (low power) (PoE + units available 3Q 14) One port per channel 10/100/1000

Setup IPv4 address for WAN connection Default internal IP is 192.168.254.1

NVR acts as Gateway for attached IP Cameras No DHCP functions for internal network Cameras which have same default address out of the

box (192.0.0.64) are automatically assigned IP address by NVR (within internal subnet 192.168.254.xxx)

You Must input valid DNS address for DDNS to work. Google DNS address of 8.8.8.8 will work.

Network page 2

The Server Port, HTTP and RTSP Ports (Defaults are 8000, 80 and 10554 respectively) must be forwarded within the router to allow the system to be viewed remotely. If router does not support unique external and internal ports HTTP port should be changed to 8008 due to ISP blocking low port #s

Page 12: 76XX Standalone NVR Setup and Operation. Built in POE Switch 802.a/f (low power) (PoE + units available 3Q 14) One port per channel 10/100/1000

Please be advised that High-speed Download monopolizes system resources and the live view screen may appear to be frozen including the loss of mouse control.

Free DDNS From HikVision1. Check Enable DDNS2. Fill in the user defined domain name (in this example myhomedvr)3. Click “Apply” located at bottom right of screen.4. Once ports are forwarded in URL bar type www.hik-online.com/myhomedvr5. When the unit registers with the DDNS server it includes the HTTP port information so it is

not necessary to append the url with the modified http port number. (i.e. :8008)

Page 14: 76XX Standalone NVR Setup and Operation. Built in POE Switch 802.a/f (low power) (PoE + units available 3Q 14) One port per channel 10/100/1000

This is totally isolated network. To change advance settings of cameras you must

connect PC to one of the PoE ports of NVR and manually change your IPv4 address to be part of this subnet.

If you run the Hikvision SADP software you will see the IP address of the cameras connected via the PoE ports.

If your NVR has firmware version 2.3.7 you will be able to get to the Web interface of the Camera from within the NVR setup screen.(Camera needs to have firmware level of 5.1 or higher)

Internal Subnet Network

Page 15: 76XX Standalone NVR Setup and Operation. Built in POE Switch 802.a/f (low power) (PoE + units available 3Q 14) One port per channel 10/100/1000

• You cannot join this subnet via wireless connection so all modifications must be to your computers hardwired LAN port

• By default windows computers are set to “obtain IP address automatically” You must change this to: “Use the following IP Address”

• Choose address like 202 as it will not be used by cameras. Subnet of 255.255.255.000 and gateway of 192.168.254.1 .

Setup IP ADDRESS OF COMPUTER

Page 16: 76XX Standalone NVR Setup and Operation. Built in POE Switch 802.a/f (low power) (PoE + units available 3Q 14) One port per channel 10/100/1000

Cameras are assigned IP address upon connection. During Initial Setup do not connect cameras via switch.

After cameras have been configured a switch can be deployed but one port needs to be left open for camera #2+ on switch.

Total attached cameras cannot exceed # of RJ-45 connections. (excluding WAN port)

Connect Cameras to NVR

Page 17: 76XX Standalone NVR Setup and Operation. Built in POE Switch 802.a/f (low power) (PoE + units available 3Q 14) One port per channel 10/100/1000

Cameras all have default address of 192.0.0.64 User can plug cameras into standard PoE switch (or non

PoE with separate 12v power) and run SADP software (on disk in camera box or from Hikvision.com) and manually change the IP address of attached cameras and then using a computer on same subnet make changes to the cameras.

Be advised that if you assign cameras IP address outside of the internal subnet defined in a PoE NVR the NVR will assign them a new address on that internal network.

Alternative Setup

Page 18: 76XX Standalone NVR Setup and Operation. Built in POE Switch 802.a/f (low power) (PoE + units available 3Q 14) One port per channel 10/100/1000

Automatic Recording• Out of box system is set for continuous recording which can

easily be changed to Motion recording.• Additional Configuration should be done to ensure sensitivity

level is correct and detection zones are modified to reduce false positives.

Page 19: 76XX Standalone NVR Setup and Operation. Built in POE Switch 802.a/f (low power) (PoE + units available 3Q 14) One port per channel 10/100/1000

Record Quality

System defaults to “Full Frame” which will be the maximum frame rate possible at a given resolution. Change Frame Rate to lowest acceptable number. 6 to 8 frames is best for most situations. If there is high speed movement than increasing it to 12 might be required.Make sure the total Bitrate does not exceed the Maximum Incoming Bitrate of your NVR (see manual) as this may limit how many cameras you can add and their resolution.

Page 20: 76XX Standalone NVR Setup and Operation. Built in POE Switch 802.a/f (low power) (PoE + units available 3Q 14) One port per channel 10/100/1000

Record Schedule

Multiple Recording Schedules can be created. This example sets the cameras up to record all the time M-F during business hours and on motion only (event recording) during off hours.

Page 21: 76XX Standalone NVR Setup and Operation. Built in POE Switch 802.a/f (low power) (PoE + units available 3Q 14) One port per channel 10/100/1000

Double Check Motion Detection

Page 22: 76XX Standalone NVR Setup and Operation. Built in POE Switch 802.a/f (low power) (PoE + units available 3Q 14) One port per channel 10/100/1000

• Motion Detection settings by default are imported from the camera. In DVR “Recording Configuration” make sure sensitivity is high enough to trigger motion when desired but not too high as to cause false positives. (walk through scenes to make sure triggering takes place).

• Red Gridlines indicate areas where motion will be detected. Remove ceiling fans and other objects that may move but are not areas targeted for motion recording.

Motion Detection cont.

• Files on the hard drive can be “locked” so that they are not overwritten. Locking a file allows system to skip that part of HDD when it is overwriting the oldest files.

• Locking Does not preserve a file if HDD is formatted. If a file is unlocked and is now the oldest video it may be overwritten quickly.
