Page 16 Delmarva African American Pride Magazine Summer 2017 The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced its Commissioners All - Academic Team for 2017 on June 23rd. There where 72 Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks among the 1,209 honored for their academic success. The team recognizes sophomore and senior student-athletes at the 14 MEAC colleges with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or bet- ter. The following Hawks were recognized: Baseball (14) Samantha Casarez, Adrienne Guerra, Daeshia Jones, Kiana Peterson, Ciara Walters, and Sara Jo Whaley; Womens Tennis (1) Helina Abbe; Cross Country/Track & Field (19) Derrick Cheruiyot, Oussama Chouati, Joshua Dacres, Regyn Davis- Young, Tanise Edwards, Lenneisha Gilbert, Rachel Halmon, Jennaya Hield, Jayla Lane, Shellasia Leitch, Shauntel Lucius, Stanley Meli, Don- isha Porter, Juwan Richardson, Khalil Rmidi Kimini, Taj Showalter, Kevin Stanford, Dypna Umunakwe, and Tal- yah Winston; Womens Volleyball (8) Lucia Babic, Kirstin Fink, Ra- chel Kayongo, Marta Klafuric, Zuzana Ondruskova, Alana Polk, Mere Serea, and Koya Sowells. 72 Hawks make MEAC 2017 All-Academic Team Head womens volleyball coach Toby Rens, the Hawks and Nike partnered to present a Nike Volleyball Camp July 18 - 21 on the University of Maryland Eastern Shore campus in Princess Anne. The Camp was for ages 10- 18. It included overnight campers and extended day campers. The program is designed to benefit all ability levels, from beginners to advanced. Campers were broken up into groups based on skill lev- el. Every aspect of the game was covered, giving participants a solid skill foundation to build upon after camp. Full scrimmages in the eve- nings allowed campers to put their skills to the test in the game situa- tions. Nike Volleyball Camp held on campus
