Dear friends,

I am pleased to share with you the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra’s 2017-2018 Annual Report. What an extraordinary year it was, as the Phil continued to scale new heights, expanding the reach of its music, and continuing to solidify its position as one of the leading performing arts organizations on the South Shore. I am immensely proud of how the Phil enriches the cultural, educational, and quality of life of Plymouth and the entire region.

As always, the power of the Phil starts with music. This year, under the direction of Music Director

Steven Karidoyanes, the Phil soared with a season featuring Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Rossini’s Barber of Seville, the powerful Cello Concerto, No. 1 by Saint-Saens, and an array of Broadway standards featuring the stylings of singers Will and Anthony Nunziata. The Phil featured highly accomplished guest artists at each of its concerts, including pianist Ketevan Kartvelishvili, cellist Allison Eldredge and tenor Matthew Anderson – a true reflection of the esteem with which the orchestra is regarded.

World-renowned classical guitarist Eliot Fisk, who performed Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez with the orchestra, described the Phil as “a national treasure.” This doesn’t happen by accident; it is a testament to our extraordinary musicians, music director, Executive Director Kim Corben and our entire staff.

2017-2018 saw the Phil widen its reach. We performed a benefit concert for the Martin Richard Institute for Social Justice at Bridgewater State University, and continued our very popular outdoor summer concert series at Laura’s Center for the Arts at the Emilson YMCA in Hanover.

This year saw the Phil introduce new programming for people of all ages. We started a new educational program, Link Up, which was developed by Carnegie Hall, and brought this program into five new South Shore elementary schools. Combined with our Music Immersion Program, the Phil now offers educational programs to more than 3,000 school children every year. We also reached out to community members who may be unable to attend concerts at Memorial Hall, through a new Lunch and Listen program, featuring small ensembles performing at senior housing centers.

The season finished strong financially thanks to our loyal and generous donors, and all of you who attend our concerts. You make it possible for the Phil to bring the gift of live music to so many in our community.

On a personal note, I want to thank the staff, musicians, and countless volunteers of the Phil. It is an honor to work with you. I also want to acknowledge the leadership, hard work and contributions of my fellow board members. This year we welcomed two new board members, Robert Cozzone of Rockland Trust Company and Mary Toropov of LKA Fundraising and Communications. Thank you for your energy, experience and insight.

The Phil is a true community partnership, and we are deeply appreciative of everyone who supports the orchestra.

Message from the Board Chair

2017/18 Annual Report | 1

Dear friends,

What a season it has been! I am so thrilled and thankful for the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra’s many accomplishments during our 102nd season. There were high notes on and off stage all year, from our community collaborations to the artistic accomplishments of our extraordinary musicians. 2017/18 was successful in every way. As you review this report you will notice the many ways the Phil enhances our community, and makes the South Shore a better place to live.

Carnegie Hall’s Link Up program – The Orchestra Sings – is a fine example of how the Phil is always looking for new ways to serve our community. Piloted this year, Link Up will be added to our suite of educational programs, and offered bi-annually, alternating years with our existing Music Immersion Program. This means we will now present music education programs in the public schools every year. In addition to expanding our programs, we have extended our reach to other school districts by including schools in Marshfield, Wareham, and the Silver Lake Regional School District. This outreach will continue, and more South Shore schools will be added as funding allows.

The Composers’ Society, our distinguished leadership group of donors launched during our 100th season, continues to grow in numbers of members and donations. These visionaries along with all our donors, sponsors and supporters are the reason we can continue to grow and expand our offerings.

As we move forward, there are challenges before us, but our guiding principles continue to be artistic excellence; community; expansive repertoire; music education; and sustainability. We are pleased to report our fifth year of increased net assets, which strengthens our financial position and allows us to invest in more programs on the South Shore.

Together, Steven and I thank the Board and the incredibly generous donors who are helping propel the Phil into a strong future by committing their time, talent and financial resources to this fine organization. It is with commitment and enthusiasm that we celebrate the music and our wonderful musicians, and continue to deepen our engagement with our community and with each other.

Finally, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to our incredible team: Kara McEachern, Holly Wenger, Caroline Chapin and Patty Cronin-Sevigny. This small but mighty group of talented individuals, along with our dedicated volunteers, make the magic happen all year long and at every concert. We couldn’t do it without them.

I am so proud to be part of an organization that represents the best in live classical and pops music performance on the South Shore. I can’t wait to experience our next musical adventures together.

OUR HISTORY

The Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra was organized in 1913 and played its first concert on December 28th of that year under the direction of G. Herbert Clarke, a Kingston violin teacher with a passion for music and a vision of sharing his dedication and musical fellowship with the community.

Originally comprised of local amateur players, today’s orchestra is comprised of professionally trained musicians from diverse academic backgrounds and a variety of countries, and who bring a world-class level of precision, skill and dedication to the orchestra.

With the exception of two years during World War II, the orchestra has been in continuous operation since 1913. In 1973 the orchestra became a chartered, non-profit corporation and experienced a period of significant growth in both programming and support.

Under the guidance of Music Director and Conductor Steven Karidoyanes, the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra has become a major cultural force in southeastern New England. Today, the Phil plays to critical acclaim, premieres pieces from leading composers, performs with world-renowned soloists, and has performed in venues across the region.

Beyond the concert season, the Phil presents a wide range of live music and innovative educational programs to people of all ages and backgrounds. Working with educators, leaders and community partners, the Phil reaches well beyond Plymouth, to serve as an innovator and advocate for music for all.

Since his appointment in 1994, Steven Karidoyanes continues to raise the orchestra to new levels of distinction with a commitment to artistic excellence, music education, and community outreach.

As a conductor, composer and broadcaster, Boston native Steven Karidoyanes brings a wealth of musical experiences to the podium.

2017-2018 was Mr. Karidoyanes’ 24th season as Conductor and Music Director of the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra. Continually praised for the level of distinction to which he brings his ensembles, one reviewer said of the Beethoven Missa Solemnis performance he conducted, “Karidoyanes and his forces navigated it with absolute confidence, allowing the composer's unruly spirit to speak clearly through them.” (Boston Globe, November 7, 2011.) This is also his 14th season conducting the New England Conservatory Youth Symphony, leading concerts in Boston’s most prestigious concert venues and in past concert tours of Italy, Greece, Costa Rica, Eastern Europe, Ireland and Spain. Since 2008, he is also a regular understudy conductor for The Boston Pops. He made his Boston Pops conducting debut in Symphony Hall in December 2016.

Past international guest conducting engagements include Hungary's Savaria Symphony Orchestra in Hainburg, Austria, the Prague Symphony Chamber Orchestra, Costa Rica’s National Music Institute Youth Symphony, and return engagements with the North Czech Philharmonic. In January 2016 he conducted a series of concerts with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Karidoyanes has also guest conducted the Syracuse Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, and orchestras in the Washington, D.C. region. Opera productions conducted include Cape Cod Opera’s Carmen, The Mikado by the Bostonian Opera & Concert Ensemble [a.k.a. “The Bostonians”] and Opera-by-the-Bay’s (MA) Die Fledermaus.

He recently stepped down from leading Masterworks Chorale after a decade, conducting choral/orchestral masterworks in Harvard University’s Sanders Theatre. He has also held the posts of Music Director of the Boston College Symphony Orchestra, Associate Conductor of the Winston-Salem Symphony and Greensboro Symphony orchestras in North Carolina, and Assistant Conductor of the Rhode Island Philharmonic. He has served on the faculty of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute for ten seasons, and on the conducting faculty of the New England Conservatory.

Complementing his performing activities, Mr. Karidoyanes is a composer and member of ASCAP. His composition, Yerakína: Dionysian Dance for Orchestra, was written for and premiered by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and has already been performed by The Boston Pops. His Café Neon: Fantasy on Greek Songs and Dances has been performed over thirty times by over a dozen orchestras coast to coast plus Italy, Greece and Australia. A classical music announcer/producer, Mr. Karidoyanes has worked for National Public Radio affiliates in Boston, North Carolina and Indiana.

Steven Karidoyanes holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from Boston University and received training in orchestral conducting at the Canford School of Music in Dorset, England, where he studied with the renowned British conducting coach, George Hurst. Additional orchestral studies earned him the Outstanding Graduate Student Award for two consecutive years from Ball State University in Indiana.

Mr. Karidoyanes lives in Boston with his wife, Amy. They have two sons, Michael and Nicholas.

Be Inspired. Be Engaged. Be Entertained!Inspiring and Educating the Community Through Music

The Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra is deeply committed to music education and community outreach. Over the years the Phil has developed a variety of educational and community programs aimed at encouraging a lifelong love of music in people of all ages.

In-School Music Education Programs

Take 5 for Music engages students with 5 minutes of classical music, 5 days a week for 5 years. It is a simple, yet effective listening program that introduces young children to music. Each morning an all-school announcement is made before the music is played and “scripts” introduce the composer and the music. The program helps students learn music in an easy, familiar way.

Look, Listen, Learn is an extension of Take 5 and brings the excitement of live music into the classroom. Small ensembles from the Phil (a string quartet, brass quintet, woodwind quintet and a percussion duo) give mini concerts and instrument demonstrations.

Philharmonic Field Trip brings students to Memorial Hall to hear an hour-long concert. Schools are invited to bring students to come learn about the orchestra, enjoy a concert and explore the beauty of symphonic music.

Music Immersion Program is a comprehensive program that immerses students in the world of music. By combining Look, Listen and Learn and the Philharmonic Field Trip, students gain a better understanding and appreciation of music both in school and by attending a live performance by the full orchestra at Memorial Hall. The program brings all four ensembles into third and fourth grade classrooms throughout the school year. The program culminates with the Phil performing a finale concert at the end of the school year for all of the participating students.

Link Up offers students in grades 3–5 the opportunity to join the orchestra in a highly participatory program. Students learn to sing and play the recorder in the classroom, and then perform with the Phil from their seats at a capstone concert at the end of the school year. A hallmark of the curriculum is its careful design and flexibility for the participating teachers. Created by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute, the Phil implemented Link Up as a pilot program during the 2017-2018 season with nearly 2,000 South Shore students participating. We are honored to be one of the 100 orchestras around the world taking part in this innovative program. The Phil offers Link Up on a bi-annual basis alternating years with Music Immersion.

Youth Concerto Winner

Each year, the Phil offers one extraordinarily talented young musician an opportunity to perform with the full orchestra. The March Family Concert featured pianist Karen Ji, the winner of the South Shore Conservatory’s 30th Annual Youth Concerto Competition. Ms. Ji, a senior at Hingham High School, studies at the Conservatory with HuiMin Wang. The young musician was featured as the concert’s guest soloist in music from Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, also known as the Emperor’s Concerto.

As the overall winner of the South Shore Conservatory Annual Concerto Competition in 2014 and 2016, Ms. Ji has already performed twice with the Phil and Steven Karidoyanes. She regularly competes at the Conservatory, and has won multiple prizes in solo and concerto competitions. In addition, she won first place three times and second place twice at the Talented Young Musicians Association’s Russian Music Competition, which led to three performances at Carnegie Hall. In the summer of 2016, Karen Ji performed Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the SSC Evenings Under the Stars Festival Orchestra.

The Phil is committed to music education and involving young musicians in its programming, and is honored to work in partnership with the South Shore Conservatory to make this annual collaboration possible.

Thanks to support from the Town of Plymouth Visitor Services Board, the Esther and Alcide Ruffini Charitable Trust and the Spooner Trust, the Phil performs this free outdoor concert reaching over 40,000 seniors, adults and children on site and by live broadcast. The goal is to make this free concert an annual event.

Community Concerts The Phil presents free-to-the-public concerts that are accessible to all. Concerts include the Summer Concert Series at Laura’s Center for the Arts located at the Emilson YMCA in Hanover as well as the July 4th Plymouth waterfront performance.

Family Concert The Phil’s annual Family Concert is a family-friendly concert for people of all ages. Showcasing light classical music, this hour-long concert features lively symphonic works that are accessible to novice ears and yet still pleasing to experienced orchestra concertgoers. Preceding each concert is a hands-on instrument demonstration by Phil musicians. Ticket prices are kept low to ensure that these performances are affordable and accessible to families.

The Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra Music Scholarship The Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra Music Scholarship is awarded annually to a Plymouth County high school junior who intends to apply in the fall of their senior year to a four-year music program to major in music performance, music education or music composition. The award may be used for lessons, master classes or workshops, music camps, purchase of a new instrument, or other expenses that raise the level of a student’s qualifications as an applicant.

The 2018 Scholarship was awarded to Sydney Alfano, a Pembroke High School junior who plays trumpet with the Pembroke High School Honors Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Marching Band, and Jazz Band. She has studied with Dan Laslow since 2011. This talented young musician is also part of the Massachusetts Youth Wind Ensemble Concert Band at New England Conservatory. The scholarship was used to support Sydney’s trumpet and piano lessons and participation fees for the 2018 South Shore Conservatory Summer Music Festival.

The scholarship, once a regular offering by the orchestra decades ago, was reinstated in 2016 on the occasion of the orchestra’s centennial, and is presented annually.

“Music education and community focus have always been among the core values of the Phil’s mission,” said Judy Fosdick, Chair of the Scholarship Committee. “The scholarship reflects our commitment to future generations of professional musicians.”

“This year the Summer Music Festival had a teaching academy, so we had an opportunity to interact with music education students. It was inspiring to see students just a few years older than me doing exactly what I plan to do in college. It meant a lot to see them grow with us, and to hear their perspectives on college and music education as a whole.”

In Partnership With Our Community

The G. Herbert Clarke Award The G. Herbert Clarke Award was presented to Kathy McMinn at the Phil’s annual Bravo Breakfast in September in recognition for her leadership as the founding director of the Plymouth Children’s Chorus, and for the creation of the Phil’s renowned Music Immersion Program. Her long-time, collaborative work with the orchestra has enriched both the Phil and the greater Plymouth community for many years.

Kathy has inspired thousands of children through her mentorship, dynamic leadership and dedication to the joys of making music. The high quality of children’s choral performances on the South Shore is due to Kathy’s involvement in a wide range of musical activities for youth.

Kathy inaugurated the first Music Immersion Program in collaboration with Music Director Steven Karidoyanes in the fall of 2005. Today, that program remains a centerpiece of the Phil’s outreach programs, and has provided thousands of Plymouth students with the opportunity to experience live music first hand, both in class and at orchestral concerts. Thanks to Kathy and her long-time association with the Phil, every child in the Plymouth Public Schools can graduate having had direct experience with this unique program.

Broadcasting Concerts The Talking Information Center (TIC), a non-profit reading service for visually and print impaired listeners, broadcast the Flavors of Spain & Italy concert to TIC listeners across Massachusetts. Guest artist Eliot Fisk’s performance of Joaquin Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez had special significance as Rodrigo wrote this piece despite the fact he was blind from age three. Music Director Steven Karidoyanes was elated to share this program with our special audience via the Talking Information Center.

Giving Hope The Phil was honored to be part of the 2017 “Give Hope” telethon, which raised over $29,000 for hurricane relief for residents in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico. The telethon included a live broadcast from opening night’s Ain’t It Grand concert at Memorial Hall, where Steven Karidoyanes addressed the television audience, and led the orchestra in a musical selection for the telethon.

Benefit Concert The Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra was honored to perform Inspiration, Hope and Joy, a community concert to benefit the Martin Richard Institute for Social Justice, on October 1 at Bridgewater State University. The Institute was named for Martin Richard, the youngest victim of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing tragedy, whose parents are both BSU alumni and met there as undergraduates. Members of the Richard family, who are deeply involved in the work of the Institute, were in attendance. Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey narrated music from Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait as part of the performance.

The Institute carries on Martin’s legacy by building knowledge about social justice, developing skills for advancing social justice through individual and collective action, and serving as a catalyst for BSU’s institutional commitment to social justice.

Artweek Artweek, April 27-May 6, 2018, was a statewide effort to raise awareness of the arts in Massachusetts. The Phil participated in this initiative by offering complimentary admission to the April 28th Passions Unbound pre-concert talk with Maestro Karidoyanes and a special reduced-price concert ticket. It was a great way for those who didn’t know about the Phil to learn more. Artweek was produced by the Boch Center with support from the Highland Street Foundation.

Summer MusicThanks to the generosity of Herb and Paulie Emilson, the Phil resumed the popular outdoor summer music series at the Laura’s Center for the Arts at the Emilson YMCA in Hanover. The free concerts featured the Phil’s Cabaret Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble and Brass Quintet on three summer evenings at the Center’s outdoor amphitheater. The series introduces new audiences to the Phil and brings together inter-generational audiences to enjoy programs of family-friendly music.

Lunch and ListenLunch and Listen, a program to provide music and fellowship for local seniors, was launched in February 2018 thanks to the support of Diane and Gary Glick. The pilot program for seniors living in Plymouth’s subsidized housing developments featured lunch and a concert by a Phil quintet, led by Anne Howarth. The Phil was honored to bring these residents together with a special afternoon of music. The Phil worked with the Plymouth Housing Authority, the Old Colony Elder Services and the Plymouth Center for Active Living to pilot this new program.

12 | 2017/18 Annual Report

Treasurer’s Report: Year ended June 30, 2018Our goal is to make music available, affordable and accessible to the entire community.

The Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra’s fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30. The Annual Report is issued after the completion of the audited financial statements. This report represents the period commencing July 1, 2017 and ending June 30, 2018 (FY18).

Each fiscal year brings unique challenges and opportunities and our Board of Directors and the administration of the Phil were ready for the challenge. Concert revenue continued to grow with a 2.09% increase from the previous year. However, our revenue from concerts continue to represent only 32% of the total budget. The remaining 68% is generated through public support, which includes individual contributions, grants, concert sponsorship, and special event income. FY18 ended with a 1.6% increase in public support with $664,787 raised. The Phil’s annual Gala raised over $82,000 breaking last year’s record as the highest net income fundraiser in the Phil’s history.

We continue to make significant progress on achieving the Phil’s strategic goal of financial stability.

The change in net assets at year-end increased from $624,037 to $647,361, an increase of 3.74%.

Below is a chart representing the last 6 years’ growth in the Phil’s net assets. The organization continues to be well managed, fiscally sound, and committed to developing the financial resources to allow the orchestra to thrive today and in the future.

Support from our community confirms our belief in the Phil, and challenges us to continue down the path of thoughtful and managed growth for the organization. This growth comes from a genuine commitment to serve our entire South Shore community.

Annual Golf Tournament 120 South Shore golfers enjoyed a day of golf and camaraderie at Southers Marsh Golf Course in June in support of the Phil’s concerts and community outreach programs. John Knoll, who helped created the Phil’s first tournament in 2000, was the lucky winner of the 50/50 helicopter ball drop. Proceeds from the tournament directly support concert programming and the Phil’s free outreach programs.

2018 GalaCome Fly With Us!The Phil’s annual fundraiser reached new heights in 2018 by raising more than $82,000, exceeding the previous year’s proceeds by 17%. The Pro Airways hangar at Plymouth Airport was transformed on an April evening into a festive party scene. The hanger, complete with small aircraft and enhanced by an elegant dining space and dance floor, hosted a generous group of Phil supporters and community leaders.

Pre-Concert Parties Many audience members add to their concert experience by attending the Phil’s pre-concert receptions. These gatherings allow concert-goers to be welcomed by Music Director Steven Karidoyanes, a chance to socialize, and to meet the guest artists. Pilgrim Hall Museum, one of the Phil’s long-time partners, is the host site for many of these pre-concert events.

• 14 programs offered in collaboration with community partners

Season Highlights

2017/18 Annual Report | 15

Reaching New AudiencesNew marketing activities yielded good results for the Phil this season. Executive Director Kim Corben launched a blog giving insights into what goes into producing concerts, as well as giving a behind-the scenes look into the inner workings of arts management. New promotions included advertising on WGBH radio to reach classical music listeners in the Boston area, and expanded direct mail to targeted South Shore towns. The Phil enjoyed extensive media coverage for every concert, and feature stories in the local press about our new outreach programs, Link Up and Lunch and Listen.

Across the RegionOur musicians performed throughout the community, including some unexpected venues. Our small ensembles performed at the Plymouth Center for the Arts for our Composer Society dinner, the Pro Airways hangar at Plymouth airport for our Gala, and at two senior housing centers through the new Lunch and Listen program. The Link Up education program brought Phil musicians into five new South Shore elementary schools. The full orchestra performed at Bridgewater State University and on the Plymouth waterfront, while the cabaret orchestra and two small ensembles performed at Laura’s Center for the Arts at the Emilson YMCA during the Summer Series.

ArtistryEvery concert in the 2017-2018 season featured a guest artist, a departure from the Phil’s earlier years when guest artists were a rarity. Audiences were treated to performances by pianist Ketevan Kartvelishvili, tenor Matthew Anderson, cellist Allison Eldredge, and the dynamic duo of Will and Anthony Nunziata, who ended the season performing Broadway favorites for a sold-out crowd at Memorial Hall. A particular highlight of the season was the appearance of guitarist Eliot Fisk, whose performance of Rodrigo’s Conceirto de Aranjuez cast a hushed spell over the audience. His appearance brought a high number of audience members from areas located far from Plymouth.

Ways to Support the Phil

18 | 2017/18 Annual Report

Grants and Foundation GiftsThe Phil’s educational outreach and community programs would not exist without the support of corporations and family foundations. Contributions from grants and foundations help to further the mission of the Phil to provide a wide-range of live music and educational programs to people of all ages and backgrounds on the South Shore of Massachusetts. Many of the programs for children and families are free or at low ticket prices to allow everyone who wishes to attend the opportunity to hear a live performance or participate in a program.

Corporate and Business SponsorshipSupporting the Phil makes good business sense. Leaders on the South Shore know the important role the arts play in our community, and they value the vitality of live orchestral music. Business sponsorship can provide a platform for visibility, as well as opportunities for client appreciation. Sponsorship of concerts and events are available at a variety of levels and provides companies creative ways to connect with the community through music. In addition, advertisements in the program books reach thousands of potential customers each season.

Planned GivingPlanned Giving is an easy way to make a lasting contribution to the Phil. Planned gifts play a crucial role in sustaining the high level of artistry and innovative programming of the orchestra while enriching and shaping the culture of your community. Your gift also entitles your estate to a federal estate tax charitable deduction. Please contact your attorney for special details and language for any bequest. Popular ways to give include:

Bequests and WillsA bequest, a donation made through your will, is a flexible and convenient planned gift. While you may decide today that you will make the donation, the transfer occurs only when your will is executed. You retain complete control of your assets during your lifetime. There are several types of bequests you may want to consider.

Outright Bequest – You may donate a specific dollar amount or a particular asset, securities, a house or other tangible property.

Residual Bequest – The gift is the remainder of your estate after the payment of all other bequests and estate related expenses.

Contingent Bequest – Name the Phil as the recipient of all or some of your estate after the death of other beneficiaries.

Charitable Trust – Set up a charitable trust wherein the principal would eventually go to the Phil.

Retirement Assets or Insurance – Give the remainder of your IRA, Keogh tax-sheltered annuity or qualified pension plan.

Legacy Society Those who make a bequest to the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra become members of the Legacy Society. It is not necessary to provide estate documentation, however, to ensure your gift works as you intended, we appreciate knowing the details of your gift.

Individual Leadership Gifts – The Composers’ SocietyThe Composers’ Society was formed in June 2015 as the Phil’s leadership giving group. These supporters are visionaries who make a commitment to the future of the orchestra. Individuals giving $1,000 or more are enrolled in the Composers’ Society and receive special recognition for their support. Members meet annually for a celebratory recognition dinner. Gifts directly support the Phil’s concerts and educational outreach programs. New members are welcome to join the Composers’ Society at any time throughout the year.

Annual Giving – The Phil FundGifts to the Phil Fund directly benefit the Phil’s ongoing operations and enhance the audience experience. Donations of any size are welcomed and all gifts make a difference. Individual donors are the true heroes of the orchestra as ticket sales cover only 40% of concert costs. Community donors help us reach new audiences across the South Shore while keeping our concerts accessible and ticket prices affordable.

We especially appreciate the contributions of current donors and subscribers. This enables us to show potential corporate/foundation supporters that we have strong and committed supporters who believe in our mission and goals. Every gift, regardless of size, counts.

Matching GiftsMany companies match employee and retiree gifts. This is a great way to double or even triple your gift. Check online to see if your company matches gifts or contact your HR office for details. Matching gifts generally require nothing more than a simple form and are an easy way make an even greater impact.

AdvertisingBusinesses who advertise in our colorful program books gain visibility for their companies while supporting the orchestra at the same time. Advertisements help the Phil defray the cost of printing over 7,000 programs each season while spreading the word about local businesses who value the arts in their community. The concert program books offer the opportunity for businesses to reach thousands of new customers throughout the year.
