Hi, my name is Stian A Grady.

I was born in Leicester (England), and when my parents split when I was 6 I moved to Norway with my mother & brothers. My mother is Norwegian (Moss) and my father is English. I have 2 brothers that are both Norwegian. I speak fluent Norwegian, English and good Spanish. I do read and write Norwegian, just that English comes more natural to me.

Since I was born I have lived in Norway on 2 occasions (In total 10 years), England on 3 occasions (In total 16 years) & Gran Canaria on 2 occasions (In total 4 years). With not living with my parents since the age of 18 and with all the different places I have lived it's made me very independent. At the same time with having to make new friends at all the different destinations I have become an outgoing & sociable person.

I do not have a problem with taking risks, whether it's in life or physical risks. I have as mentioned above lived in Gran Canaria, Ålesund & Oslo and all these places I moved without knowing anyone. Also while living in Gran Canaria I did a Padi Openwater Diver course, I went on to do an Advance course and have done wreck dives to a depth of 38m.

I moved to Oslo from Ålesund to study at NIH to become a Personal Trainer. Half way into my first course I got a promotion at work and didn't get much time to study. Therefore these plans have been put on ice until a future date.

I have always been interested in Sport, and have either tried or supported everything from Snooker to Rugby.

My personality is an out going, sociable, hard working & active person. I work at Choice Hotels Head office and see Petter Stordalen everyday, so it's hard not to be influenced by his high energy levels and to live by his saying "Energi, Mot og Begeistring". One thing I like doing and get told I do very well is creating a good atmosphere among people that I'm around and work with. Like at work I'm normally the one who gets people involved & make jokes to create an enjoyable place to work. I don't have a problem opening myself to people and sometimes I guess I'm a little too honest. I tell people things about myself that maybe normally others would keep to them selves.

I love challenges, and am not one to back down. And that's one of the reasons why I've decided to apply for 71 grader Nord. Of course after watching the program there may be a couple of challenges that I might think twice about, but I’ll just have overcome the fear of the unknown. I get pushed on by others and therefore like working as a group. But I know it will be a lot harder to push my self should I get to the later stages of the competition, when there are less people to compete against.

I'm also applying for 71 grader Nord because I want to see how I would cope with the different challenges and it's been dream for me to see the amazing sights that Norway has to offer. When I watch the program I always think "Is it really as hard as it looks or could I do that?".  Plus it would be fun to be part of one of TV’s most popular reality programs which has on average ca. 400,000 TV viewers pr episode. I would be proud to be a part of this program because of the physical challenges and what the contestants have to go through. This is one of very few programs that people can walk away from even if they go out in the first few rounds and still hold their heads held high. But of course that's not my plan, I want to beat the others at the physical competitions and play the mind games that are needed to win. And if I have to charm the women in the group to progress on in the competition then so be it. You never know there may even be that someone special part of the group too… Although I am a sporty & active person I'm no professional

athlete. For example I like to go Alpine Skiing but haven't been Cross Country Skiing since 1991, so just that in it self would be a challenge to get used to again should I get chosen to take part in the program. And as I'm half English I guess we are more known for being football hooligans & beer drinkers, instead of mountain & snow people. So that would also be a challenge to prove the viewers wrong, and show that even English people can stand up to full blooded Norwegian Vikings and beat them at their own game. If I'm to be honest Norwegian history & geography might not be my strongest point and therefore will need to rely on the others to help me through the challenges. This may upset some people but that's something they will have to deal with.

With regards to being on TV, that is not a problem. I'm always my natural self whether it's uncomfortable situations or in front of large groups of people. Of course it’s gone be different to be in situations where you have camera crew following you around and watching your every move, but to be honest I think once the game has started I’ll be to busy doing the challenges to think about the cameras.

All there is to say now is thank you for taking the time to read my application and hopefully I’ll get called in for an interview.

Should you have any question or would like to have any references do not hesitate to get in touch.

Yours Sincerely

Stian A Grady
