St. Gregory the Great

The knowledge of the Cross is

concealed in the sufferings of the

Cross.

Day 1 = Word 1

 Then God said, “Let there be

light”; and there was light. Gen 1:3

“Father, forgive them, for they

don’t know what they’re doing.”(Luke 23:34)

Day 2 = Word 2

Then God said, “Let there be a firmament

in the midst of the waters, and let it

divide the waters from the waters.” Gen 1:6

“I assure you, today you will be

with me in paradise.”(Luke

23:43)

Day 3 = Word 3

Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered

together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it

was so. Gen 1:9

…. “Woman, behold your son!” 27 Then He

said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!”

And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home. Jn

19:26.27

Day 4 = Word 4

Then God said, “Let there be lights in the

firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for

signs and seasons, and for days and years;

Gen 1:14

And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a

loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama

sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God,

My God, why have You forsaken Me?” Mk

Day 5 = Word 5

Then God said, “Let the waters abound

with an abundance of living creatures, and

let birds fly above the earth across the face

of the firmament of the heavens.” Gen 1:20

“I am thirsty.”(John

19:28)

Day 6 = Word 6Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our

image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all[b] the earth and over every

creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of

God He created him; male and female He created them. Gen 1:26,27

Then God blessed the seventh day and

sanctified it, because in it He

rested from all His work which God had created and made.
