7 sweet 'n healthy snacks
TRANSCRIPT
That dreaded sweet tooth…
Have you ever had an insatiable craving for sweets?
Have you ever tried so hard not to give in to that craving
only to find yourself eating a giant brownie five minutes
later? It’s safe to say almost everyone has been there.
So what’s the solution? No, it’s not giving up sweets
altogether. It’s satisfying your sweet tooth with a small,
tasty treat that still has healthy elements. The following
seven slides will give you some examples of such treats:
1. Chocolate dipped strawberries.
Since fruit is naturally
sweet, it’s no wonder you
can embellish it to make it
into a dessert-like treat.
Melt some chocolate, dip
a few ripe strawberries in
the chocolate, and put
them in the fridge. Once
the chocolate has hardened, enjoy!
2. Yogurt parfait.
Sometimes a small bowl of Greek yogurt (plain or vanilla)
topped with granola and a sprinkling of blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries is all you need to satisfy that
sweet inkiling. You can even add some shaved
chocolate if you can’t resist.
3. Fruit leather.
Don’t confuse Fruit Roll-Ups with fruit leather. Fruit leather
is basically dried fruit that’s been pressed and rolled into
leather strips. It almost tastes like candy because of the
natural sugars from the fruit. Just be sure you buy the kind
that says “no added sugar.”
4. Hot chocolate.
On those cold winter days
when it’s especially hard not
to crave sweets, make a
smal mug of hot chocolate.
Use skim or soy milk and go
easy on the hot chocolate
powder. You’ll feel satisfied
and warm and toasty.
5. Chocolate frozen banana.
Got any extra-ripe bananas lying around? Cut one of them in half, and put the two halves in the freezer.
Once it’s hard enough, take one half out and roll it in dark melted chocoate. Then roll it in a topping like nuts or granola.
Put it back in the freezer, let it set, and enjoy (and save the other banana half for a smoothie)!
6. Pudding.
Pudding, whether it’s chocolate, vanilla, or pistachio, is
actually a lower calorie, somewhat guilt-free dessert. Just
whip up some instant pudding of your choice, scoop a
cup of it into a bowl, and top it with berries.
7. Peanut butter chocolate smoothie.
Smoothies can be both sweet and healthy if you make
them right. For instance, you can make a delicious
smoothie using Chocolate PB Fit peanut butter powder,
milk, a handful of oatmeal, and half a frozen banana.
Combine these ingredients, and you won’t stop smiling.
