Stages of

DebriefedThinking

“The work you do to

understand people

within your design

challenge”

1

Design Thinking

1Empathize

It calls for the need to

develop human-centered

approach that takes into

account all technology

considerations along

with the human factor.

1

Empathize

The problems a

design thinker tries

to solve are not

their own.

1

The big question is how to

empathize?

Empathize

To create innovative

designs, connect

with people and

seek their stories in

3 steps:

1

Empathize

Observe Engage

Listen

“Identifying the

actual problem is

the key to the right

design solution”

1

Design Thinking

Define2

At the defining stage of

the process, it is all

about bringing clarity

and establishing focus

on the design. This will

help you explore more

ideas quickly.

1

Define

It is an explicit

expression of a

problem, a design

thinker intends to

express.

1

Define

The big question is how to

express?

To define the problem

statement of the brief,

articulate a point of

view with these 3

elements:

1

Define

User Need

Insight

“It is a process of idea

generation that starts

from concepts and goes

to outcomes”

1

Design Thinking

Ideate3

Coming up with a chic idea

is easy but ideation

requires the broadest range

of ideas. To ideate

solutions, the design team

harnesses one of the

multitude of art and design

movements or paradigms.

1

Ideate

The question is what are the

techniques for ideation?

1

Ideate

Ideation is about pushing

for a widest possible range

of ideas that are open to

you and that can be

executed.

1

Ideate

The techniques require

building around a selected

concept or idea in a way

that you give voice to your

imagination or creativity.

There are 3 ways to do this.

Sketching

bodystorming

mindmapping

1

Design Thinking

Prototype

“Design prototyping

allows the design ideas

to be tested which

provides a ground for

comparison”

4

1

Prototype

It is an iterative

generation of artifacts

intended to answer

questions that get you

closer to your final

solution. The trick is to

keep sailing steady!

1

Prototype

Just like a picture is

worth a thousand words,

a prototype is worth a

thousand picture.

It’s only a question of how a

prototype should look like?

1

Prototype

A prototype should look

exactly like your idea on

paper. The closer your

prototype is the better will

be the design solution.

This is how it should look

like.

Crisp Clear

Focused

1

Design Thinking

Select

“In the selection stage,

one of the proposed

deigns are picked if

they appear fit for

purpose (design

brief).”

5

1

Select

The winning design is

the one that closely

meets the design brief,

or at least cover a

significant part of it. If

it covers both than

that is an additional

bonus.

1

Select

A designer may

advance with what he

thinks are the best

design solutions to the

client, but client has an

eye on their business.

So how can you show what the

client wants to see?

1

Select

Make the selection

process evident for

your client. Present

your choice in a way

that it gets approved.

So you have to make

it:

prominent convincing

unique

1

Design Thinking

Implement

“The designer passes

the artwork and

format to those who

will be supplying the

final product.”

6

1

Implement

This is the phase during

which the production

specifications are

finalized and designs

are given the shape of

reality.

1

Implement

The implementation

phase also accounts

for testing the

functionality as well as

the visual appearance.

The question is how to make

the execution work?

1

Implement

It begins with the

testing and analysis of

the completed design.

Basically, it’s an

iterative process that

must be:

tested measured

reflected

1

Design Thinking

Feedback

“This stage identifies

what worked well and

where there is room for

improvement.”

7

1

Feedback

It is an open ended

communication

between the client and

designer at which the

measure and identify

whether or not to

continue with the

selected design.

1

Feedback

This is the learning

phase to pick

inadequacies in the brief

or lack of understanding

of key points.

The question is how to identify

the key points?

1

Feedback

Sit together and

deduce what aids the

feedback process and

how to strengthen the

relationship with the

client. These 3 tips will

work:

Dialogue Reiterate

Enhance
