Week 1 Term 1KAURI 8 (Mrs Polaschek)Welcome to 2013!  The children sound like they have had wonderful adventures in the holidays.  We are enjoying getting to know each other in our lovely big classroom!  We have had Mrs Davis join us as well today.  She will be team teaching with Mrs Polaschek every Thursday, and later in the term Wednesdays as well.  It's great to see everyone make a great start on their reading logs, with lots of children writing in the title themselves.  What great writing practice!  We are beginning our inquiry "standing strong together" by finding out what makes each of us special.

RIMU 3 (Mrs Godby)Welcome to Room Rimu! It is great to see all the children looking so well rested and ready for school work. Spelling and maths homework will begin on Monday. Each day the children will have a book to read as well. We will be practising athletics on Mondays and Thursdays so it will be helpful if the children have suitable clothing and shoes for this. It helps if the children have their clothing named and they can put on and take off their shoes independently.

RATA 4 (Mrs Aurik)We have had a great week getting to know each other and learning the classroom routines.  I am impressed by the way the children are filling out their reading logs.  Some stationary packs did not include a reading log, however the children do need one and these may be purchased from Office Max as we have sold out at school.  I am looking for a couple of parents who would like to help in class.   One parent for about an hour each week and the other to help for about 1/2 an hour two times a week.   If you are interested please let me know.  Kind regards Evelyn

MIRO 5 (Mrs Kahukura) Welcome to MIro :) It is  wonderful to start the new year with such a great bunch of students. We have started the term getting to know each other through team building activities, setting up classroom routines and expectations. This is a great introduction to our 'Inquiry' this term 'Standing Strong Together'. It is

great to see almost all of Miro with their sun hats, which is compulsory for outside play this term.Reading books for everyone went home on Monday and our full homework routine begins in week 2. I look forward to meeting  with you all next week at our meet the teacher evening. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me [email protected] Kiri

MANUKA 6 (Mrs Carr) Greetings from Manuka! It is so great to see all the bright sun and shiny faces all ready to leap into another great year of learning and teaching. Already we have settled into a happy and focussed class. I am looking forward to catching up with you at the Meet the Teacher evening. Please feel free to pop in and see me or e-mail. Kind regards, Della Carr.

TOTARA 7 (Miss Duncan)• It's been fun to be back at school. We are excited about the new class page for Totara and the new iPad mini's that are coming, too. Jackson• 'm looking forward to this year, it's great to see everyone. I have taken on school roles and responsibilities as a year 6 so it will be a busy year too. RebeccaWelcome back students and parents. I am looking forward to meeting those of you who can make it next week at our 'Meet the Teacher' evening next week. I am thrilled with how well the students in Totara are settling in together, well done!

KOWHAI 2 (Mr Herring)This week we've been learning how our classroom works and what we expect from each other. We've started our big climb to the top of Everest (not a real climb, obviously) in our colour teams and we're learning lots about groups and team work.

You can see our class website at our ultranet site which is linked from our school website. There are photos and examples of the kinds of learning that is happening. You can even leave a comment if you use your student's login.
