Co-ordination

It is a managerial function in which different activities of the business are properly adjusted, integrated and inter linked to achieve organisational objectives

Co-ordination is needed among different activities, organisational departments, functions and work force

It helps smooth functioning of the organisation, integrates efforts in a common direction, avoids confusion and rivalry among employees and ensures proper division of work

Bases of Co-ordination

The Hierarchy - The co-ordination and the two way communication in the organisational hierarchy must be taken care of the superiors, as it is difficult for top management to co-ordinate between activities of the lower level

Administrative System – All the programmed events and routine tasks are co-ordinated using formal procedures. For rest of the tasks, committees could be asked to co-ordinate

Voluntary Activities – The employees or group of employees volunteer to co-ordinate when they face a situation/feel the need to co-ordinate, find a programme and apply it
