RULES OF SALE

Previous buyers should have received buyer numbers in the mail. If you have any changes,

please fill out the bottom part and drop in the registration box as you come in. New buyers

are asked to register to secure a buyer number to use while purchasing items. Buyers

planning to buy with a group please pickup group buyer’s cards that will need to be filled

out with each purchase to improve our records and to help eliminate problems at payment

time. Payments may be made to the Jackson County Youth Fair (JCYF) at the Livestock

Office (Next to Entrance Ramp) immediately following the sale.

The JCYF will floor steers, lambs, goats, and hogs purchased at the buyer’s request.

The floor amount is calculated and listed on the sale sheet by the eligible animals. The

floor amount may be deducted from the buyers bid amount, donated to one of the

listed funds on the Disposition sheet, or donated to the exhibitor. Each buyer or

buyer group must complete a Disposition sheet for each animal purchased. If an

item is floored, please indicate which Buyers should receive the credit.

For group purchases all buyer numbers and buyer names for each buyer must be listed on

the group buyer card. No buyer names will be announced or recorded if they have not

registered. Also, a percentage of the purchase price or a specific dollar amount should also

be listed for each buyer. Also on the disposition sheet if an item is floored you will need to

check which buyers are to receive floor credit. Please indicate on the disposition sheet who

should be the contact person for the group.

Resale or Floor prices per pound are:

Steers $ .92/per pound

Lambs $ 1.47/per pound

Hogs $ .40/per pound

Goats $ 1.83/per pound

Buyers should be aware of the JCYF rule that in each division no placing animals may sell

for more than the Reserve Champion of that division and the Reserve Champion cannot

sell for more than the Grand Champion. If bidding goes over the limit, the sale will be

stopped and an announcement made that any additional bidding resulting in amounts over the

limit will be transferred to the Jackson County Youth Fair Scholarship Fund. Any

media or articles will reflect the amounts paid to the exhibitor and the amount going to the

scholarship fund.

Please check IRS regulations regarding donations to charitable organizations. The

Jackson County Youth Fair has been advised that we may be acting only as an agent

during the sale and therefore may not be able to acknowledge the purchase of an

animal as a donation. It is our understanding that businesses considering the purchase

as a promotion expense or advertising expense will not be affected. Please consult

your tax preparer.

Add-ons will be accepted only on the day of the sale in the livestock office. Add-ons may not

cause the sale price to exceed the limits above. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Fryers, Turkeys, and Rabbits are to be processed by the exhibitors and delivered

according to the buyers Disposition Sheet no later than October 28, 2016. If a buyer

fails to receive an animal by that date, please call (361) 781-4980.

All buyers with a minimum of $200 in purchases at the Auction will receive a plaque from

the JCYF. These may be picked up at the time of payment.

Buyers selecting the Meat Center to pick up their animals are responsible for

contacting them for processing instructions. Buyers selecting outside processing

plants or planning to take animals home are responsible for picking up animals

between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on the Sunday morning following the sale.
