• The industry belives it will play an important role in the Norwegian economy in 10 years.

• A majority of the participants think the future within the industry will reveal interesting development potentials.

• The industry feels that the foundation for commercialization of research is not adequate.

• The industry’s strenghts are mainly access to professionals, competence and a well developed research community.

• Marketing, capital access, financial results and business development skills are areas where the industry comes short.

• Focus on internationalisation, venture- and seed capital, relation between industry and universities, basic scientific research and educational programs for entrepreneurs appear to be important elements in developing the industry.

• The biotechnology industry is in general well familiar with the government sponsored programs.

• 91% of the participating companies in the study have received support (mainly financial support) from the public support system.

• 73% claims that this support has been important for the company.

• 47% of the participants find the government sponsored programs not efficient in speeding up the development process within biotechnology.

• There is a majority of those who belive it will be easier to receive seed- and/or venture capital in the next 1-2 years, compared to those who belive it will be more diffficult.

• About half of the participants do not belive there will be any significant changes from today’s situation when it comes to seed- and venture capital .
