TheformerinfielderplayedintheBrewers’farmsystemwithClass-AStockton(1986-88),Double-AElPaso(1989-90)andTriple-ADenver(1991-92).In1998,GuerrerowonaleaguechampionshipinTaiwan,claimingthebattingtitlewitha.361battingaverage.

Guerrero’sfather,Epy,wasarenownedMajorLeaguescoutintheDominicanRepublic,whilehisbrother,Mike,isthefirstbasecoachwiththeBrewers.Sandyandhiswife,Jessica,resideinHuntsville,Alabama.
