Stitch ‘n’ Turn Ornaments Instructions(OC02001-OC02007 and OC02011-OC02016)

Supplies:• 2 pieces fabric one inch larger than chosen design• OESD Mesh Cut-Away Stabilizer• OESD Mesh Wash-Away Stabilizer• Temporary Adhesive Spray• Isacord embroidery thread• White polyester bobbin thread• Embroidery machine• Polyester stuffi ng (extra-soft stuffi ng is recommended)• Hand needle

Instructions1. Hoop a single layer of Mesh Cut-Away stabilizer.2. Spray the stabilizer lightly with Temporary Adhesive Spray.3. Stitch the fi rst color, which is the “Placement Stitch”.4. Place a square of fabric right side up onto the Mesh Stabilizer, being

sure to cover the “Placement Stitch”. See Photo 1.5. Attach the hoop to the machine and select the design of your choice to

stitch. Embroider all but the last color of the design. See Photo 2.6. On all designs except for the large candy cane (OC02041), the second

to last color will have been the “Ribbon Placement Guide”. This is an optional feature that allows you to add a hanger to your ornament. To create a hanging loop, after stitching the “Ribbon Placement Guide”, create a loop out of ¼" ribbon and place it within the guide stitches with loop facing in and the tails of the ribbon facing out. Lightly spray the ribbon with Temporary Adhesive Spray to hold in place.

7. Remove the hoop from the machine, but DO NOT remove the fabric from the hoop.

8. Clip all jump threads.9. Place another square of fabric right side down directly over the fi rst

piece. If desired, pin or tape at corners to secure.10. Reattach the hoop to the machine and stitch the fi nal color change

(through both layers of fabric).11. Remove the hoop from the machine and the fabric from the hoop.12. Using embroidery scissors, carefully cut out the project close to the

stitching line. Clip curves as needed.13. Cut a slit in the back (non-embroidered side). See Photo 3.14. Turn the ornament right side out. Use a chopstick to turn out corners

and curves. See Photo 4.15. Stuff as desired with polyester stuffi ng.16. Slip stitch the slit closed.

For Extra Fun:Add defi nition stitching with a sewing machine or by hand. Stitch ribbon, beads, bows or embellishments on your ornaments to dress them up. Remember that embellishments can create a choking hazard if the ornaments will be within reach of children.

Add sugar to the cookies by using beads and glitter!

Rather than creating hanging ornaments, glue a magnet to the back and create cute holiday refrigerator magnets.

Large Candy Cane Name Tag (OC02041)Add a name to the front of the candy cane before you begin stitching, follow the Stitch’n’ Turn instructions above to create dimensional name plates for your holiday table.

Stocking Silverware Holder (OC02042)Follow Stitch’n’Turn Ornaments Instructions steps 1-11 above. 12. Using embroidery scissors, carefully cut out the project close to the

stitching line. The top will have been left unstitched for turning, cut one inch above the top of the stocking. Clip curves as needed.

13. Turn the stocking right side out. Use a chopstick to turn out corners and curves.

17. Turn the raw edges of the top under and fuse with fusible interfacing to hold in place. See Photo 5

Stitch ‘n’ Turn Leaves (OC02043-OC02046)Follow Stitch’n’Turn Ornaments Instructions steps 1-14 above. Do not stuff or stitch the leaves closed. They will naturally curl back for a realistic look. Attach to wreaths or swags in groups. Add beads or berries. You can also stitch them on felt and simply cut close to stitching line rather than turning them to add texture to your leaf groupings.

Canister/Gift Tags (OC02024-OCO2034)1 Hoop a single layer of Mesh Wash-Away stabilizer.2 Spray the stabilizer lightly with Temporary Adhesive Spray.3 Stitch the fi rst color, which is the “Front Placement Stitch”.4 Place a square of felt right side up onto the Mesh Stabilizer, being

sure to cover the “Placement Stitch”. See Photo 65 Attach the hoop to the machine and select the design of your

choice to stitch. Stitch the second color, which is the “Cut Line and Tackdown”.

6 Carefully cut away excess felt. See Photo 77 Continue stitching the design, stopping just before “Back Cut Line

and Tackdown” (second from last color).8 Remove the hoop from the machine, but DO NOT remove the fabric from the hoop.9 Place another square of felt on the back of the hoop to cover the bobbin thread.10 Reattach the hoop to the machine and stitch the “Back Cut Line and Tackdown” (through both layers of felt).11 Remove the hoop from the machine, but DO NOT remove the fabric from the hoop.12 Carefully cut away excess felt from back of hoop. See Photo 813 Return the hoop to the machine and stitch the fi nal color which will create a fi nished edge. To keep the edge looking

perfect, use the same thread in the top of the machine and in the bobbin.14 Remove the hoop from the machine and remove the fabric from the hoop. 15 Cut away excess stabilizer from edge of tag, being careful not to clip stitches.16 If there are still unsightly remnants of stabilizer showing on the edge, simply wet your fi nger and rub the edges to dissolve

the stabilizer.
