CMOG personnel partners with the Department of Education in the yearly conduct of National Maintenance Week dubbed as Brigada Eskwela. They assist students and teachers in creating a clean classroom and conducive for learning environment before the opening of classes.

These two personnel from CMOG endured the scorching heat of the sun just to show their artistry during the painting of peace mural along the walls of Camp Aguinaldo. Started last May 26, the mural was being completed by various sectors of society in the community spirit or bayanihan.

The present CMOG Commander Col Arnulfo Marcelo B Burgos Jr., donates his blood during the blood donation drive last August 2 conducted by CMOG, in partnership with the Philippine Blood Center (PBC), with the aim of having a pool of blood supply readily available anytime whenever military personnel and their dependents will need blood in cases of emergency. Some 50 CMOG personnel donated precious liquid of their body during the drive.

CMOG sent a contingent during the inauguration of the 3.8- kilometer walk at the most symbolic avenue in the Philippines slated to become the canvass of one of the greatest Filipino street artwork unveiled recently. Working in collaboration with Asia America Initiative (AAI), the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP), Dolphins Love Freedom Movement, and Metro Manila Development of Development (MMDA) and various local artists.

CMOG reaches out to community folks by rendering services in any form just like this soldier from the Civil-Military Operations Battalion giving a free haircut to this small boy.

Group has every reason to celebrate its diamond foundation anniversary today, August 16. The group is still very much dynamic and significantly relevant since its activation 60 years ago heralding past and present accomplishments and is looking forward to continuously upgrade its capability to be more effective and efficient in fulfilling its mandate. CMOG is instrumental in carrying out civil-military operations activities and related trainings in support of the Philippine Army in serving the people and securing the land.

Lt Gen Noel A Coballes, Philippine Army commanding general, will be the occasion's keynote speaker. He is expected to talk on the role played by CMOG in pursuing the thrusts of the Army Transformation Roadmap and the AFP's Internal Peace and Security Plan "Bayanihan”. The Army Chief has expressed his congratulatory note to the officers and men of CMOG saying "the unit has been winning the hearts and minds of the people since its inception in the early 1950s- up to the present time.-

Col Arnulfo Marcelo B Burgos Jr, CMOG Commander, said the celebration will be highlighted by paying tribute to former group commanders who had steered and helped the unit to what it has become at present. Some 23 still living commanders will be presented with The Bust of Emilio Jacinto Award in appreciation of their sterling leadership during their respective tours of duty. Said award epitomizes the highest ideals of a CMO soldier – the ultimate warrior who constantly shapes today’s battlefield in winning the hearts and minds of the people. Among the former commanders to be honored include: USec Edilberto P Adan, Executive Director, Visiting Forces Agreement; USec Eduardo D del Rosario, Executive Director, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Center; MGen Ricardo C Morales (Ret); President, AFP Mutual Benefit and Insurance; MGen Victor U Garcia, Vice President for Security and Safety, Vic Sal Devt Corp., Metro Gaisano, among others.

Another highlight of the celebration is the launching of the armynews.ph wherein the longest existing command publication of the Philippine Army, the Army Troopers Newsmagazine, goes online for easy access through the World Wide Web and wider readership from people from all walks of life anywhere and anytime of the day. The website shall also serve as an information tool of Army personnel and a prime source of news by different media outfits covering the defense beat.

Likewise, at the sidelights of the celebration, CMOG will also introduce MLX4, a prototype portable manpack loudspeaker, developed by the unit to beef up its capability in conducting CMO activities. The MLX4 would be very essential equipment of Army troopers conducting disaster relief, humanitarian operations, civic actions, community outreach and other peace and development activities of the Philippine Army.

I n its endless quest to improve its capability to support the conduct of disaster relief, rescue and humanitarian operations of Army troopers, the Civil-Military Operations Group, Philippine Army has developed a

prototype portable manpack public address system called MLX4. This prototype, which is technically the fourth of its series, will undergo field testing in actual scenarios this month.

MLX4 is powered by a 220 wattage of dual sourced batteries which could last up to 14 hours of continuous usage. It has a USB/SD port; two microphone inputs with tone control; a DVD player; AM/FM radio; an MP3 port; and a siren that are all arranged in a backpack aluminum carriage with harness for easy mobility. The two units of 150 watts horn-type speaker could reach approximately one kilometer in an open terrain and up to more or less 500 meters in built up areas.

It is important to note that in 1997, Col Ferozaldo Paul T Regencia, who was then the CMO School commandant and now this unit’s CMO Battalion commander, initiated the creation of a Pinoy version of the manpack loudspeaker. The very first prototype of its kind saw action in Brgy Lucapon South, Sta Cruz, Zambales which is under the AOR of 68th Infantry Battalion then. It was then followed by improved versions in 1999 w h i c h p u r p o s e l y became an indispensable tool during CMO-Psyops classroom instructions, practical exercises, and Civic Action Program conducted in Nueva Ecija.

According to Col Arnulfo Marcelo B. Burgos Jr. Commander of Civil-Military Operations Group, the Information Support Affairs Teams of the unit shall be equipped with MLX4 once it pushes the series of field tests and evolutions. He said that MLX4 will enhance the present CMO unit’s capability. It will be an essential equipment by Army troopers, in conducting disaster relief, humanitarian operations, civic actions, community activities and other peace and development activities.

Troopers Newsmagazine, the Command-s longest existing publication.

The armynews.ph will be formally launched as CMOG celebrates its 60th Founding Anniversary in simple rites at the Ricarte Hall of the Army Officers' Clubhouse at 10 a.m., August 16.

Lt Gen Noel A Coballes, Army commanding general, as the keynote speaker for the event, will lead the formal launching. He said -"CMOG has level up as the ATN goes online, necessitating the publication to evolve as a Command publication."-

Now, internet-users can access the Army Troopers Newsmagazine as it goes online for easy access through the World Wide Web for wider readership anywhere and anytime of the day.

The website shall also serve as an information tool of Army personnel and a prime source of news by different media outfits covering the defense beat. Browsers can get news the fastest, come across interesting feature articles that are military-related, and other features that would be beneficial to military personnel.

Soldiers in the field, who rarely grab a hard copy of the ATN in the past, could easily access the ATN website with just a click of a button. They could also go over back issues for articles that hopefully they will find useful in the discharge of their daily tasks.

Browsers could also give their comments, insights or react to certain issues that affect the military organization and the security sector.

There will also be downloadable military forms like application to Philippine Military Academy, Officers Candidate School, Candidate Soldiers Training School, identification cards and the like.

Manpack Public Address System ARMY EXTENDS REACHAS ATN GOES ONLINE

Project Shoebox is a novel joint project of the Philippine Army, through the Civil-Military Operations Group, the Department of Education (Dep-Ed), National Bookstore Foundation Inc., Sigma Alpha Sorority, UP Los Banos Laguna Chapter and the 2GO Express Incorporated.

The project optimizes the impact of volunteerism among government and non--government organizations which provide school materials and other personal care items being distributed to elementary, students from selected barangays that are under the influence of the New People-s Army and in calamities-stricken areas.

Since the project launching last June 6, 2013, the Philippine Army, as of this date, has already distributed a total of 99, 621 shoe boxes to students-recipients of Compostela Valley; Davao Orienta; Isabela; Quezon; Tarlac; Laguna; Rizal, Camarines Norte; Camarines Sur; Occidental Mindoro; Oriental Mindoro; Samar and Misamis Oriental and still counting. Of this figure, the remaining 25,777 for third batch has also been dispatched to various beneficiaries.

PINOY BATANG BAYANIThe Philippine Army, through the Civil-Military Operations Group, has forged partnership with Tuloy Foundation Inc., an NGO that rehabilitates marginalized street children.A total of 25 CMOG facilitators were trained purposely for this educational endeavor to share their expertise in imbibing the spirit of nationalism and love of country among TFI school children every Tuesday and Thursday of the week for the duration of the current school year.CMOG Kuyas and Ates handle pilot classes in Sibika or Araling Panlipunan aimed to instill discipline, value formation and character development that will reinforce the spirit of patriotism, love of country and nationalism through classroom instructions complemented by outdoor activities that will enhance the use of imagination of the street children.
