Suggested Action Why is it desirable?

Are there any undesirable aspects to it?

Do you do it? Why?If not why not?

Action to take to get you or other people to do it?

Replace regular light bulb with compact florescent bulb.

Uses much less power and so less greenhouse gas produced?

The bulbs are more expensive than regular ones, the light is different.

Yes. The bulbs last much longer so are worth the extra money. You get used to the light and its good for the environment.

Council could organise advertising campaign to tell people how much longer bulbs last.

Eat less meat Cow’s and other animals produce methane a greenhouse gas. Also clear trees for grazing.

Fewer cows, some farmers may lose jobs.

No. My parents decide what we eat and we have meat every night.

Buy my parents a vege cook book or show them some vegetarian recipes. Try one or two nights a week.

What will you do to make your ‘Footprint on the Future’ a positive one?• You each have a footprint.• On it you are going to write and/or

draw one thing you are going to do or change to help stop climate change.

• Also include the benefits of the action.• Take your footprint home and carry out

the action over the week.• Try to persuade your family to do it

too.
