6 Steps to Finding Your Dream Career

Imagine what it would be like to work in the career of your dreams! Eachmorning you'd wake up excited about going to work. In fact, work justmight even seem more like play! Wouldn't that be a nice change?

Have you thought about what your dream job looks like? It's possible thatyou don't know exactly what your dream career is - you just know thatyour current job certainly doesn't �t the bill. In this situation, you owe it toyourself to do some serious thinking and discover your true calling.

Rather than dropping everything and plunging forward into the unknown,however, there are ways to ease into a more personally productive path.Before you know it, you can be enjoying your work once again!

Follow these simple steps to discover your dream career:

Step 1: Go after it. If you already know what you truly want to do, you justhave to build up the courage to go after it.

 Maybe you work a daytime job and you dabble in graphic design atnight. You constantly say, "Someday I should start my own graphicdesign business." Well, it's time to stop saying "someday" and moveforward with your dreams!  You could start your own business part-time while you're still usingyour regular job to pay the bills. For example, perhaps you've always been good at writing and you’vedreamed of writing your own romance novels. Seek out a mentor in thenovel writing industry who can help you develop your strengths. A mentorwill also be able to help give you good feedback.

Step 4: Go to a job fair. This is a good way to discover new careers. Even ifyou need to go back to school for some specialized training, you'll at leastget a better idea about the companies that are hiring.

Step 5: Complete a career assessment. There are many di�erent careerassessment options, including free career tests online. After answeringquestions about your personality and preferences, you'll receive a list ofpotential careers that mesh well with your likes and talents.

Step 6: Take a class. While it does cost some money, it's really aninvestment in your greatest asset - yourself! If you enjoy what you'redoing, you can pursue career options in that �eld. If you don't like theclass, you can just move on to something else with no harm done.
