Page 170 Ps Week 1
5th Sunday of Lent
In one of the most important incidents in the Gospel,
Jesus weeps at the death of his friend Lazarus, and
shows his divine power by raising him from the dead,
foreshadowing the true resurrection.
First Reading
Ezekiel 37:12-14
Through the prophet, God announces the reality of a future, physical resurrection from the dead.
Second Reading
Romans 8:8-11
Paul teaches that the in-dwelling of the Holy spirit, given to us by Christ, is the source of our own resurrection from the dead.
Gospel
John 11:1-45
Through the raising of Lazarus, Jesus teaches that he himself is the door to eternal life, being both fully God and fully human.

GIF update
Dear Parishioners,
St Hugh’s continues to receive support – we have now reached over £226,000 from 93 gifts. Our average pledge is £40 a month over five years.
Our goal has been to receive an informed decision from everyone in the parish. Our volunteers and I have tried to meet with many of you. However, for those we were unable to reach or who have not as yet made a decision, please let us know your intentions this weekend.
Our goal in this project is to use the funds that the parish retains to build a much needed catechetical room and to enhance the welfare work of our parish. I believe that this will strengthen our parish significantly. Together we grow and together we will fulfill the mission of the Church. Our hope is therefore that everyone will consider what they can.
Thank you to everyone who has pledged and to all those who continue to pray for the success of the campaign.
With blessings,
Fr Jimmy Garvey
