The roughly 2- acre park is located just south of Boyson Road along the Cedar Valley Nature Trail. It came together thanks to agreements between the City, Linn County and nearby Dave Wright Auto. The collaborative efforts have created a dog park unlike any other in the area! We are excited to provide your K-9 companion/s a place they can exercise, play and enjoy the outdoors!

Cleaning up after your dog(s)and using the provided wastebags and containers.Abiding by the rules regardingchildren. Although it maysound fun, dog parks are not agreat play area for smallchildren.Following all the rules in thisbrochure and those posted atthe Dave Wright Family DogPark.

The Dave Wright Family Dog Park isthe City of Hiawatha's first off-leashdog park. The Hiawatha Parks andRecreation Department invites youand your canine friends to emBARK

on a fun adventure!

PARK RULES Use of the Dog Park is at the owner/handler’sown risk. Users agree to hold the City ofHiawatha harmless for any injury or damagesto person or property while using the DogPark. Hours of the Dog Park are sunrise to sunset. Puppies younger than 16 weeks old are notallowed in the Dog Park. Dogs with known histories of aggression,fighting or biting are not allowed in the DogPark. Any dog exhibiting aggressive or unrulybehavior is required to be removed by thehandler immediately. Dog owners will be heldliable for their dog’s actions. If your dog getsinto an altercation please exchange contactinformation with the other dog owner(s). Dog handlers must be a minimum of 16 yearsold. Children 15 and younger must beaccompanied by an adult at all times. There is a maximum of two dogs allowed perhandler. No wheeled or motorized vehicles are allowedin the Dog Park unless used for a disability.Dogs must enter and exit the Dog Park on aleash. Once inside the fenced Dog Park,handlers may unleash their dog. Dog handlersare responsible for carrying a leash for eachdog within the park while staying withineyesight and voice control of their dog(s) at alltimes. Dogs cannot be left unattended at anytime.All owners/handlers must clean up after theirdog(s) in all areas of the Dog Park. Please use

Pleaseuse the provided waste bags and receptacleswithin the Dog Park. Dogs are not allowed todig inside the Dog Park. Dog owners areresponsible for filling in any holes created bytheir dog(s). Female dogs in heat are not allowed in theDog Park. Non-neutered male dogs should beclosely monitored at all times. No animal or human food is allowed withinthe Dog Park, other than small training treats. Electric, metal, prong, pinch or spike collarsare not allowed in the Dog Park. Sick, lame or injured dogs are not allowed inthe Dog Park. Dogs must be current on all vaccinations.Dog Handlers must have vaccinationdocumentation with them when visiting thepark. In the Small Dog Area, dogs must be lessthan 13” at the shoulder and weigh no morethan 25 pounds. All dogs are allowed in the Large Dog area,but please keep in mind that it is possible forsmall dogs to be accidentally injured by largerdogs.
