Reading Workshop:-Making predictions before, during, and after reading-Read Aloud: Galaxy Zack

Writing Workshop/Word Study:-Wixie: we explored a new creation and writing site called Wixie. I am excited to use this to publish our personal narratives the next few weeks.-Personal Narratives: Making our stories come to life by adding movement and talking, telling the story step by step, and including thoughts and feelings.

Math Workshop:-putting together 10 and some more to make numbers 11-20-addition combinations to 20-writing equations

If you are looking for something to do at home:-Give them two sided equations (for example 8+2=7+3) ask them if they are true or false and how they know.-Ask students to find examples of geometric shapes around the house: cubes, rectangular prisms, spheres, and cylinders.

-Ask your student to tell you how many tens and ones the teen numbers are made up of. For example, 13 is 10 and 3 more.

Other:-Our kindness elf is here! The students have lovingly named him ________. Each day he will give us a new kindness task to complete. Students are excited to have him here. Be sure to ask them what act of kindness we were challenged with each day.

-Gingerbread Houses—We will be making Gingerbread Houses on Wednesday, December 18. If you are able to volunteer to help or send in supplies, please sign up at the following link: Gingerbread House Making

-Holiday Party: The holiday party will be here before we know it on December 19th at 2:45. A signup to help volunteer will be coming out soon.

-Google e-mail: I introduced your students to their Google Mail accounts this week. All Dublin students have a G-mail account that they will use throughout their schooling at Dublin City Schools. Their G-mail address and password are located on the ‘websites page’ on the back of their green folder. We are not practicing using e-mail here at school, but we do utilize our Google accounts for publishing and other writing. If students want to e-mail friends and family from home, as a way to practice typing and their written expression, they now have learned a bit about it.
