TOWER DEL REGIO

This tower was called del Regio because it was property of the King upto the year 1860.( In Italian language regio is an adjective which means belonging tothe king). It is located in the small village of Fiumefreddo which is justcalled Regio.The tower is fifteen metres highand the original stone structureis still visible.It has got a square plant withthe side of six metres. Thetower has an entrance that youcan reach by a flight of steps of

recent remaking. Theres acouple of drains on each wall ofthe tower. Traces of Arabianinfluence appear in thebattlement which surrounds thetop of the tower.Today a family of Fiumefreddolives in this tower. Fiumefreddo Bruzio, tower Del Regio.Fiumefreddo B. Torre lunga

Along the old national road Statale 18, not too far from Saint Ritaschurch, lies

the Torre Lunga. The tower dates back to the 15th century; it is 18metres high and has a square plant with the side of seven anda half metres and its made of stones. The front door is higher

than the ground level and it can be reached by a flight of steps.Originally, the access to the first floor of the tower was obtainedby means of a mobile staircase, that was withdrawn in case ofan impending siege.

Near the roof there are jutting brackets. The tower dates back to thefifteenth century. Today its used as a dwelling house.

TOWER VARDANO

The tower Vardano

Not far fromTorre Lunga,near the riverVardano,stands the TowerVardano, in theshape of aquadrilateral.

On the top of thetower, near theroof, there arestone brackets.The walls arentvery thick.There isnt theoriginal perronbecause it wasdemolished.

Today its the residence of a family and, therefore, the owner has madesubstantial changes in it.
