  1. 1. How did you address/attract your audience? In our answer we are going to show that radio is a blind medium which uses silence, language, sound effects and editing to create sonic pictures. We know that our audience will probably be doing others things as they listen to our news: getting dressed, preparing breakfast or travelling to work. We have identified NINE ways in which we address our audience.and here we go
  2. 2. Through our HEADLINES Perhaps the first key way we attracted out AUDIENCE was through the HEADLINE sequence. Our news topics are in the order it is because we wanted to focus serious thing that happen in or local radio news and we started of with the serious topics in the news as we felt that ; even though we were doing local radio news, national news was more important. The headlines give out the news topics and can be used to introduce the presenter. Item 3 is the next point as it is very unusual and is classed as being really interesting as it is in the local area, which makes it attractive towards our audiences. That is way we are looking at the content of it.
  3. 3. Content of the news With our third news item we featured Salusbury Primary School in Queens Park that banned a pupil for bringing pack lunch to school. This is a human interest story which will excite different points of view in our target audience; we wanted this story to be controversial and relevant to our listeners in the area. We believe the story is an everyday one (a childrens school meals) with an unusual twist.
  4. 4. Specialist Reporter Our specialist reporters and our presenter introduced themselves in a clear and polite way. In our script for our third news item the reporter introduced themselves by being polite and clear. The specialist reporter in our first news item also did the same, making it really attractive and addresses the listeners.
  5. 5. Vox Pops As we are focusing our news items in the local area with news stories that were related to the local area, so we decided to included a Vox pops which is the sound of the people in our radio broadcast. By using synchronizing our vox pops into our radio show we attracting our audience as it makes our show look intriguing therefore meaning more people will be listening. Listen to a piece of our vox pops that we used in one of our news items.
  6. 6. Jingles A jingle is very important in our radio show as it is the first thing that the audience will hear as an attention grabbing trick. We use the same jingle to start and end the show.. A jingle is an indexical signifier which on our case shows that an audio event is happening because it punctuates the audio event to help the listener to make sense and attend to what is being communicated.
  7. 7. Formally speaking When you hear the news on the radio the reporter doesnt speak in slang he/she speaks clearly and uses a form of English which is widely understood. It is ok to use a regional accent particularly if the accent fits the region of the LOCAL RADIO NEWS broadcast. That is how we spoke in our entire radio broadcast because we are attracting people living in our local area, age isnt a factor so slang isnt necessary as everyone living in the local area will hear it and that means we need to speak formally while presenting it. If we had presented it like we were talking to our friends than some of it would be informal.
  8. 8. Through embedding SFX The included some sound effects from one of our news item which is the Flash Fiction Festival. The reason why we conducted and included an jingle to our news item because we wanted to make the scene more realistic and convincing. Below is two examples of our sound effects of our news item.
  9. 9. Composing our title music Our title music is an important element to our Radio News broadcast. We composed our own title music on Garage Band, where we looked at different beats that we thought would be appropriate to what would attract our audience.
