“NORTHERN ITALY’S LAKE REGION”
Breath-taking villas, gardens, lakeside views and more will be explored while traveling the area which the Community School’s Director, Sandi Tinyk, considers her favorite trip of all the destinations in the school’s travel program. Ringed by alpine peaks, the sparkling waters of the Italian Lake District command a landscape where mountains descend to meet the shores and grand hotels rise up in pretty lakeside towns. Here at the convergence of Italy and Switzerland is an area graced with shocking beauty and extraordinary diversity, where each lake with its own charms and treasures unfolds against a backdrop of semi-tropical gardens, gracious old villas and vibrant villages and traditions.
From the jewel-like Borromean islands on Lago Maggiore, or the panorama of the crystalline waters of Lake Como, the romantic charm of the Italian Lakes continues at tiny Lago di Orta, in the middle of which is tiny Isola San Giulio and its basilica, dating from the 4th century. Andiamo amici!
This program is presented in collaboration between the Senior Center and the Barrington Community School (BCS). Fee: $10.00 per adult/$5.00 senior citizen rate. Please call the Center at 247-1926 or BCS at 245-0432 to register. Refreshments will be served.

“A GARDEN OF HUMAN QUALITIES: The Language of Plants and Flowers”
Almost all plants have a meaning, and this can be used to effectively enhance, design, or revitalize your garden. Please join us as we explore this symbolic language, with origins dating back to ancient Asian and older European cultures. Participants will design their own vegetative style arrangement, using symbolic flowers and other plant materials to create a personal message. This makes a wonderful gift for a special person in your life! Please call the Center to make a reservation.
Please note: as fresh flowers or plants are purchased in advance, cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to the class.

Sunday, May 7th at 7:30 pm (Upstage)
“THE BEST OF EVERYTHING” by Julie Kramer Julie Kramer touchingly and faithfully adopts Rona Jaffe’s mid-century page-turner which electrified millions of women who saw their own lives reflected in the experiences of five young employees of a New York publishing house. This is an incisive look at the personal and professional struggles these women faced (face?) in their male-dominated world, bringing it to colorful theatrical life with sympathy, wit, intelligence and love.
The cost per ticket is $12.00, a price well below the current preview ticket price of $20.00. We are able to offer this discounted price due to the generosity of the 2nd Story Theater and the Senior Center. Please note that tickets are limited to two per person and membership in the Barrington Senior Center is required. Please
