British Safety Council International Safety Award2014 (Merit)World Challenge holds an International Safety Award for 2014 with Meritfrom the British Safety Council.

The International Safety Awards scheme is open to UK and internat ionalorganisat ions of all sizes across all industries and seeks to promote highstandards of health and safety management practice in order to preventworkplace injury and ill health.

Learning Outside the Classroom Quality BadgeWorld Challenge holds a prestigious Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC)Quality Badge, specifically designed for overseas expeditions. The nat ionallyrecognised badge is designed to bring together all existing safety andquality badges into one easily identifiable mark of high st andards. It is onlyawarded after a rigorous external assessment , which assures our customersthat we actually do what we say we do.

To achieve the LOtC Qual ity Badge, World Chal lenge has shown that wemeet six quality indicators: 1. Having a process in place to help users plan the learning experienceeffectively2. Providing accurate information about our offer3. Providing act ivities, experience or resources that meet l earner needs4. Reviewing the experience and acting on feedback

5. Meeting t he needs of the users6. Having safety management systems in place to manage risk effectively

Expedition Providers’ AssociationWorld Challenge is a ful l member of the EPA – a membership organisationfor the overseas youth expedition sector, and the awarding body for theLearning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) badge. This puts World Challenge atthe heart of a network of industry professionals available for consultat ionon a wide range of issues in the field. As members we agree to abide by theEPA Code of Pract ice. Global Programmes Director, Pat Milst on, is currentlyVice Chair of the EPA and sits on its working party to review all industry

operat ing practices through a revision of the EPA Standard.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Approved ActivityProviderWe are an Approved Activity Provider for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award,which allows Challengers to accredit their expedition towards a Gold DofEAward. A number of World Challenge outdoor expeditions have beenapproved by the DofE for this purpose, so you can be sure the expeditionprogramme ticks al l the 20 conditions specified by its expedition section.

Institute for Outdoor LearningWorld Challenge is an organisat ional member of the Institute for OutdoorLearning (IOL), which encourages, supports and enhances good practice inthe sector. World Challenge is involved in IOL’s work representing andlobbying on behalf of members to ensure the development and progressionof outdoor learning.

AQA BaccalaureateThe AQA Bacc is an exciting qualification that adds value to students' coreA-level subjects through broader study, the Extended Project Qualificat ionand enrichment activities. Some World Challenge pursuits are suitable forthe enrichment element of the AQA Bacc.
