Christmas Candy Cane Poem About Jesus
Look at the Candy Cane
What do you see?
Stripes that are red
Like the blood shed for me
White is for my Savior
Who’s sinless and pure!
“J” is for Jesus My Lord, that’s for sure!
Turn it around
And a staff you will see
Jesus my shepherd
Was born for Me!
****************************************
The Christmas Candy Cane originated in Germany
about 250 yrs. ago. They started as straight
white sugar sticks. Sometime around 1900 the
red stripes were added and they were flavored
with peppermint or wintergreen.
Around 1920, Bob McCormack, from Georgia,
started making canes for his friends and family.
They became more and more popular and he
started his own business called Bob’s Candies.
Bob’s brother-in-law, Gregory Harding Keller, who
was a Catholic priest, invented the ‘Keller Machine’
that made the sticks into curved canes. In 2005,
Bob’s Candies was brought by Farley & Sathers but
they still make candy canes!
