The GATE Score is calculated using the following formula:

A-Engineering Mathematics (Compulsory) H-Chemistry (Compulsory)

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2015 was organized by Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur on behalf of the National Co-ordination Board (NCB) for the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

GATE examination was held in more than one session for the following papers: CE, CS, EC, EE & ME. For these papers a suitable normalization method is applied for calculating the GATE score. Accordingly, the scorecard for these papers displays both the actual marks and normalized marks. The score is calculated based on the normalized marks. For all other papers, normalization is not applicable and “Not Applicable” is printed against normalized marks and score is calculated based on the actual marks. The details are available on the GATE 2015 website: http://gate.iitkgp.ac.in/gate2015.

In the GATE 2015 score formula, M is usually 25 marks (out of 100) or + , whichever is greater. Here is the mean and is the standard deviation of q

marks of all candidates who appeared in the paper.

Qualifying in GATE 2015 does not guarantee either an admission to a post-graduate program or a scholarships/assistantship. Admitting institutes may conduct further tests and interviews for final selection.

where,

M is the marks obtained by the candidate in the paper, mentioned on this scorecard, M is the qualifying mark for general category candidate in the paper,q

Mt is the mean of marks of top 0.1% or top 10 (whichever is larger) of the candidates who appeared in the paper, (in case of multi-session papers

including all sessions)

S = 350 is the Score assigned to Mq q

S = 900 is the Score assigned to M t t

The GATE Score is calculated using the following formula:

XE: Engineering Sciences XL: Life Sciences

A-Engineering Mathematics (Compulsory) H-Chemistry (Compulsory)

B-Fluid Mechanics I-Biochemistry

C-Materials Science J-Botany

D-Solid Mechanics K-Microbiology

E-Thermodynamics L-Zoology

F-Polymer Science and Engineering M-Food Technology

G-Food Technology

S = 900 is the Score assigned to M t t
