Page 1 of 35 5.1.6 The Institution has a transparent mechanism for timely redressal of student grievances including sexual harassment and ragging cases: Yes, the institution has a Grievance Redressal cell. The cell members visit each department from time to time and interact with the students on a one to one basis. The students respond with a free and positive mind, express their grievances and offer suggestions for the betterment of the college. Some grievances were also collected from the grievance box. After compilation, the report is submitted to the Principal of the college for initiating necessary steps for the redressal of the feasible grievances. Yes, the institution has a Grievance Redressal cell. The cell members visit each department

Central Computer centre has been upgraded for research work and twenty numbers of new Personal Computers with Linux OS.

Taken into consideration and process was initiated.

2 Provision for First-Aid boxes

Health cell always maintain to need for immediate relief of girls who have sudden trouble regarding health. First aid boxes are available with the cell.

3 Request for facility in the Library Internet facility was provided in the entire college campus through campus LAN and Wi-Fi at Library.

4 Boards with low visibility should be replaced

The blackboards were replaced with green boards and white boards

5 Lesser no. of fans in the classrooms. Additional ceiling and wall mounted fans were installed in the classrooms.

6 Computers in Central Computer in Centre needs up gradation

20 numbers of new computers were procured for the Central Computer centre.

7 Need for sufficient numbers of toilets with hygienic condition.

Initiatives have been taken to renovate the toilets to renovate the toilets with proper sanitation and amenities.

To suffice this need a new party was selected trough proper procedures by assigning modality to maintain quality and hygiene regarding food and environment.

3 Insufficient drinking water

a) Two numbers of water cooler with point of use purification have been procured (RUSA fund)

b) All the aqua guards (eight numbers) installed in the campus is run with AMCs to provide safe drinking water.

4 Inadequate sitting capacity in the Girls’ Common Room

Arrangement has been made to provide optimum sitting in the allotted room.

5 Sports Facility

a) Procurement of Adventurous Sports Equipments.

b) Coaching for football and Volleyball with proper trains was arranged at the Guwahati town Club Sports Field in May, 2017

6 Students requested for some more garbage disposal units/mechanism.

Additional numbers of dustbins were placed at different areas within the campus. Moreover 2 sets of Dustbins for separation at source (Dry and Wet) was donated by Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) to college.

7 Request for Copier, DTP Facility within the campus.

A centre has been set up through outsourcing which provides facilities like Photocopies, DTP, Scanning, Lamination etc., at subsidized rates.

8 Wanted proper functioning of the college Fitness centre/ Gym.

Servicing and repairing of the equipments were done which helped in proper functioning and use of the gym.

9 Students appealed for replacing of the old desks and benches.

Desks and benches of 14 classrooms have been replaced with new ones.

10 Students feel the immediate necessity of an Auditorium so that various cultural activities can be held.

Since there is space constraint in the college campus it was decided to upgrade the Students’ Day Home with multimedia facility, acoustic system and Godrej chairs.

11 Online filling up of examinations form, readmission etc. suggested.

The Gauhati university introduced the online examination form, however, the online filling up of online admission and readmission forms has been introduced.

2 Students suggested that the road in front of the college should be considered as “No Horn Zone”

Since the road in front of the college is a VIP road- “No Horn Zone” would not be possible as a matter of safety for the students.

3 Some classrooms are congested 4 new fully furnished classrooms has been constructed in the hostel campus with provision for another 6 classrooms in the near future.

4 Irregular water supply in washrooms

Due to construction work undertaken by PWD (Roads) there has been temporary disruption in water supply. This matter was taken up by the college authorities with GMC and rectification of water pipelines was done at the expenses of the college.

5 No auditorium for organizing various activities

The need of an auditorium has been a long drawn aspect in our wish list but due to lack of space the college made arrangements to renovate the Students’ Day Home with a proper stage & seating capacity of approximately 145 persons.

6 Utilization of the students’ union fund

Government audited copy of all expenditures including Students’ Union Fund is available in the college office.

7 More fees counters required during admission (Renewal)

Proper mechanism has been developed to streamline the admission process (Renewal). Number of counters for readmission has been increased during this period.

8 Silence is not maintained by the students in the library Library staff has been instructed to take steps.

9 Insufficient number of e-resources in the college

The college authorities have decided to develop an online learning portal MOODLE for the benefit of the students. The process has been initiated.

10 Old hostel buildings needs repairing in some areas doors/windows terrace and bathrooms

Renovation and repair works in the hostel have been completed during the summer vacation.

B. No complaints of sexual harassment and ragging cases have been reported till date. But the college has a Committee against Sexual Harassment and Ragging.

C. Minutes of the meetings of Anti- Ragging Committee:

The college has an Anti- Ragging Committee. As per the directives of the UGC, NERO, Deputy Secretary vide letter no. F-3- 1/2006/R & L/NERO 124C5- 12874 DATED 16/07/2013, Anti Ragging Cell/Squad has been constituted in order to keep the ragging activities under control. The present list of the Squad/ Cell members is listed below.

A close liaison with the students’ union and the squad members is maintained so that sensitivity & prevention of ragging in the new sessions can be achieved. Every year the college displays the names of the entire Anti ragging squad and Anti ragging cell members along with their cell nos. are displayed in a number of places of the college premises and the hostel. Further during the admission process an undertaking in the prescribed format from each admitted students which is mandatory is collected.
