    Merry Christmas!

  • Stewardship is a spiritual way of life As our Advent preparations draw to a close and Christmas fast approaches, it is fitting that today’s readings demonstrate the intensity of the Father’s perfect and passionate love for each us, culminating in the gift of His own Son, Jesus Christ,

on Christmas Day. In response to such an overwhelming gift, what can we do except offer our lives as gift in return, embracing a stewardship way of life with all the love and strength we have to give? In our Gospel passage from

Matthew, we find an unparalleled example of one who embraced this way of life in St. Joseph, as he obeys God’s call to him through the message of an angel. We never hear St. Joseph speak, but the Scriptures tell us he was always listening, attentive to the leading of the Holy Spirit for his family. It was Joseph who found the stable where the baby Jesus would

be born. No doubt it was Joseph who cleaned it up and prepared it for Mary and Jesus since we know that Mary was about to give birth. Joseph protected the family, guarded them, tended to their safety, their comfort, and their well-being at the expense of his own plans and preferences. Though we do not hear any words from St. Joseph his actions clearly show that he offered himself, his whole life, as a gift to his family through his strong guidance, protection and service. Let us imitate St. Joseph then as good stewards, giving our very lives to those around us in love and gratitude to God

who has given us everything we have, especially His own Son, Jesus Christ.

4th Sunday of Advent, December 22, 2019 My dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Merry Christmas! Feliz Navidad! Maligayang Pasko! Mừng Chúa Giáng Sinh!

In the great spirit of joy, we celebrate the Birthday of Our Lord and Savior together. With my fellow clergymen Fr. Nicolaus, Fr. Eric, Dcn. Bill, Dcn. Dong, Dcn. Rafael, Dcn. Andres, Sister Angeline and Mrs. Alvarado, we would like to wish all of you — the faithful of St. Cecilia, councils, ministries, organizations, groups, benefactors, staff and faculty — a very peaceful and joyful Christmas and a very blessed and prosperous New Year! May the Infant Jesus always dwell in your hear ts and in your homes. In the obedient spirit of the Blessed Mother Mary and Saint Joseph, may each of us say a gener-ous word “fiat” “yes” to God. True obedience comes from a free choice made in the light of what is true and good. It often requires a great deal of courage because it can involve going against the tide of social ex-pectations. True obedience also aims at putting one’s self at the service of something/someone that is greater than one’s self by accepting what God clearly wants us to do or what He wants to do through us.

In the glorious spirit of gratitude to God, I would like to express my appreciation to all of you for giving a wonderful model as a true obedient follower of Christ and for your love, generosity, prayer, participation and support for our parish — Church and School — throughout the year.

I pray that in the New Year 2020 you will be blessed with more blessings from God and continue to be generous in your prayer and financial support to the sacred life and entrusted mission of our Church and School as we are head into have our groundbreaking ceremony for a new Pastoral Center building.

As many of you leave on your Christmas and New Year breaks, some venturing off in new directions as your New Year resolutions, as well as take some well-deserved time off, please know how heartfelt thank-ful I am for each and every one of you! God loves you and so do I!

Through the intercessions of the Blessed Virgin Mother Mary, St. Joseph and our Patroness St. Cecilia, may God reward and bless you and your family with a grace-filled Christmas and a prosperous New Year!

With gratitude in and peace of the Infant Jesus Christ! Fr. Bao

Please consider donating Your Year End Giving Gift to support the Parish Building Fund Capital

Campaign or the Parish Ongoing Operation Fund. We are deeply grateful for your generosity.

We will send you the parish tax deductible letter. Please contact Deacon Bill Weeks, at Ext. 12.

Thank you very much for Your Gift! God bless!

Could this be your best gift option of the year?

Good news for Donors Age 70 1/2 and older!

A transfer directly from your IRA to St. Cecilia Parish ( often called a qualified charitable distribution or IRA charitable rollover) is a simple yet highly effective way to minimize or avoid the tax bite associated with IRA required minimum distribution.

    How It Works:

Make a transfer from your IRA directly to St. Cecil-ia Parish. Instruct your IRA custodian to call us for easy transfer instructions or contact Bill Weeks.

Although there is no tax deduction, the amount transferred counts toward your required minimum

and is excluded from your income for federal tax purposes—no tax is due! Transfers up to a total of $100,000 qualify for this

favorable tax treatment each year. Your gift makes an immediate impact!

May God constantly bless you and your family, and may God reward your generously sacrificial gifts. For

more information, please contact Deacon Bill at the par-ish office 714-544-3250, Ext. 12. Thank you!

    MISSION NEWS

Because most of our St. Cecilia Missionaries belong to Orders, we sometime hear news about them from their mission directors. Such is the case with today’s MISSION NEWS. We hear from Father Michael Delaney, C.S.C., Mis-sion Director for the Holy Cross Missions. He gives us an insight of the conditions and works of their mis-sionaries. He writes: “Through social media, Facebook. Etc., we have the opportunity to see the great work of Holy Cross missions throughout the world. It allows us to see the Church alive and growing within many differ-ent cultural contexts. We can also witness some of the conditions in which our confreres live and serve. In addition, you, our donors, can see first-hand where we strive to help the Holy Cross family. These kinds of contacts allows us to remember others in our prayers as well!. When our confreres write of the development going on, the challenges they are facing, I read these posts with gratitude to God, for the sender and for you as you help to make the hope-filled and inspired messag-es possible. You provide the content, the reason, for many of these messages with your prayers and gener-ous support. As a St. Cecilia Mission Ministry re-quested, money will be directed to the formation pro-gram in East Africa under the direction of Michael Mathews ,C.S.C and other money will be directed to the work of Holy Cross in Bangladesh under the direc-tion of Fr. Parimal Pereira C.S.C., which the Holy Cross family around the world and I, are most grate-ful. Thank you! Note: Father Michael Mathews is one of our own St. Cecilia boys and Father Parimal, who died this last year, was one of our most faithful correspondents. St. Cecilia Mission Group

    Domingo de Adviento — Diciembre 22, 2019

¡Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo!

Feliz Navidad! Merry Christmas! Maligayang Pasko!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome singers ages 9 through 18! St. Cecilia's Youth Ensemble engages singers in the preparation and presentation of liturgical music at the 11 am masses twice a month. With rehearsal singers are able to grow musically among their peers. Rehearsals are twice monthly on Thursdays from 4:30 - 5:30 pm in the church. All singers gather at 10:30 am on the first and third Sundays to lead music at the 11 am family mass. No experience necessary is except the love of singing and an eagerness to glorify God through song!
