2 INTRODUCTION

The Conductor Tensioning system is a hydraulic design utilizing four cylinders mounted to the rotary girders below the drill floor, providing tension through a chain system to a tensioning ring below the wellhead. The tensioning ring applies force to the conductor pipe using a load collar. The tensioning ring is a split ring designed to house a casing bowl and accepts Slip inserts for 13 5/8” Casing. The four cylinders are pinned to the rotary girders using stout screw-type shackles, allowing removal during rig moves. Quick connect fittings are supplied for the hydraulic lines. The four cylinders are paired, so that failure of one cylinder will not unbalance the system, enabling one cylinder to automatically shed the load from the opposing cylinder and avoid side loading. The system is nominally rated to 100 tons with 100% redundancy. Each cylinder is rated for 60 tons and chain specified with 4:1 safety factor. Should one pair fail, the remaining pair can provide up to 100 tons pull. Optionally, the Conductor tensioning system can be deployed using two hydraulic cylinders & chains without redundancy. The Conductor Tensioner system is controlled from the HPU assembly, which is comprised of an accumulator bank, hydraulic pump, valves, and a control panel with an alarm and pressure readings. This system allows for regulation of pressure at each cylinder, allowing precise distribution of tension applied across the cylinders. Tensioning pressure is system controlled to provide equal pressure to each cylinder. Each cylinder pair includes a load-holding valve, so that in the event of hydraulic pressure loss, the system will continue to hold the load. Optionally, the Conductor Tensioner systems can utilize a visual and audible alarm in the event of pressure loss, alerting the drill crew to the situation; and in the case of gradual pressure loss, allow rectification the situation before significant load shedding occurs.

• Two (2) hydraulic cylinders with a 40” stroke, each rated to 60 short tons pull. The cylinders are approximately five & half (5 ½) feet in length.

• Two (2) lengths of 2 ¾”” wire rope sling of 20 ft., each with shackles to attach to the cylinders and the Tensioner ring.

• Two (2) lengths of 2 ¾”” wire rope sling of 12 ft., each with shackles to attach to the cylinders and the drill floor padeye.

• Tensioner ring with bowl & 13 5/8 slips. (optional)

• One (1) Hydraulic Power Unit and Control console, including accumulators of suitable capacity, pressure regulator, cooling system, fluid reservoir, switches, and valves

• Pressure reading gauges at the HPU & control console

• System operations / instruction / certification / part / maintenance manual.

• Certified Lifting accessories drawings.

Client to provide the following:

• Two (2) clevis and pin arrangements for underside of rotary girders (cylinder pad seyes)

• Piping (supply and return lines) from Control panel to cylinders under rotary table

• Cabling for alarms and pressure readings from Conductor Tensioner HPU control console to the Drillers console, if option chosenInstallation of the entire system

The HPU is a pressure pumping system delivering at 0-65 GPM at 3000 psi (207 bar) Operator control, fluid reservoir, fluid cooling, and control valves are mounted at the HPU. (above system shown for reference only).

Optional Bowl Inserts conform to specified tubular diameters and Placed inside the

Tensioner or collar.
