The Institute of Leadership in Ministry (ILM) celebrated its 14th graduation honoring the Class of 2013, May 1 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph. A PERSONAL RESPONSE OF FAITH

Today’s Gospel starts with a conversation with which Jesus begins his journey to Jerusalem—and the cross. As his followers, we strive to march with him, even to the cross.

Paul’s Letter to the Galatians tells us that we who have been baptized have “clothed” ourselves with Christ. Being one with Christ, we must no longer discrimi-nate according to nationality or race, according to social status, according to gen-der.

The prophet Zechariah, centuries before anyone heard of Jesus, spoke of how the people find God’s message uncomfortable, and so turn against the messengers. Later, though, the people awaken to the realization of what they have done and are moved to repentance. Colecta Peter’s Pence La próxima semana nuestra diócesis realizará la Colecta Peter’s Pence, la cual le provee al Santo Padre los fondos que él necesita para llevar a cabo sus más importantes obras de caridad. El Instituto de Liderazgo Ministerial (ILM) celebró su 14ª graduación honorando a la Clase de 2013 el 1 de mayo en la Basílica Catedral de St. Joseph. Los graduados se re-unieron con sus familias, amigos y el personal de la parro-quia para celebrar la terminación de su programa de for-mación que duro tres años. Felicitaciones a los feligrenses de la Parroquia de Santa Lucia que se graduaron: Pedro Abrajan, Carlos Contreras, y Christina Gutto.

RESPUESTA PERSONAL DE FE Después de pasar la Cuaresma, la Pascua y los días posteriores a esta fiesta, en-tramos de nuevo en el Tiempo Ordinario. Este año las lecturas del Evangelio son tomadas de san Lucas, comenzando hoy con una conversación con la que Jesús comienza su camino a Jerusalén –y a la cruz. Como seguidores suyos, procura-mos marchar con él, incuso hasta la cruz.

La carta de Pablo a los gálatas nos dice que nosotros los bautizados debemos “revestirnos” de Cristo. Al ser uno con Cristo, no debemos hacer discriminaciones de raza, nacionalidad, clases social o género.

El profeta Zacarías, muchos siglos antes de que nadie oyera hablar de Jesús, ex-plicaba cómo el pueblo iba a rechazar el mensaje de Dios, encontrándolo incómo-do, y se volverían contra los mensajeros. Sin embargo, luego la gente se daría cuenta de lo que habían hecho y se arrepentirían.
