APT US&C / MMTA 51st Annual Conference

Greetings!

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada’s 51st annual conference at the Anyway Grand Plaza Hotel in the thriving city of Grand Rapids, MI. Grand Rapids is known as a city that will constantly surprise and delight you with authentic and unforgettable world-class experiences made easy, affordable and friendly. APT US&C will partner with our host state, the Michigan Municipal Treasurers’ Association, to conduct a joint conference of the APT US&C and MMTA on August 14-16, 2016.

Both Associations have been very successful in providing outstanding education opportunities, certifying treasury skills, facilitating networking and creating opportunities for corporate partners to engage with members. This conference will build from past accomplishments and provide advanced services to our membership.

Similar to last year the conference will host a Sunday evening gathering and conclude on Tuesday evening. The optional education sessions that have typically been offered on Tuesday afternoon will be offered on Sunday and Wednesday as a conference add-on.

The conference committee is in the process of securing excellent speakers to provide outstanding treasury-based education that you have come to expect. I offer my sincere thanks to Bob Ponkilla of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, our current Vice President and Chair of this year’s conference committee. I am also very grateful for Mathew Horning of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Their work and that of all the committee members is truly appreciated.

This joint conference, like all of our past conferences would not be possible without our many corporate partners and exhibitors. These partners provide expert speakers, opportunities to network with members one-on-one, and the ability to experience quality products and services to our organizations and constituents. To all past and future corporate partners, thank you for assisting APT US&C to achieve its mission.

APT US&C has contracted with Technical Enterprises, Inc. in Oak Creek, WI where Cindy Lemek serves as our executive director. Cindy and the entire Technical Enterprises staff are available to assist our Association to promote educational opportunities and conference management to ensure a successful conference in 2016.

Make plans now to join us for the 2016 APT US&C and MMTA Joint Conference August 14 to 16th in Grand Rapids, MI, as an attendee, speaker, exhibitor or corporate partner.

Sincerely,

On behalf of the Michigan Municipal Treasurers Association, it is my pleasure to invite you to our beautiful state as we co-host the 51st Annual Conference of the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada.

The MMTA will be holding our 38th Annual Conference in conjunction with the APT US&C conference. Our association has nearly 900 members from 525 units of government and includes some of the most infl uential, knowledgeable, and well-respected individuals throughout Michigan who are proven leaders in their fi elds.

The conference will be held at the magnifi cent Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan on August 14-16, 2016. The Amway Grand Plaza Hotel is a staple in the skyline of Grand Rapids and is located in the heart of their vibrant downtown area. The APT US&C was last at this venue in 2008 and we’re excited to provide a location that will awaken creativity as we learn and network with fellow treasury professionals.

The MMTA’s Conference Committee, chaired by Matthew Horning, will be working closely with APT US&C’s committee to develop the educational sessions and program. The partnership between the APT US&C and the MMTA has been dynamic throughout the years and will ensure a conference that will provide outstanding educational opportunities while certifying treasury skills, facilitating peer-to-peer interaction, and creating opportunities for corporate partners to engage with members.

The success of both the APT US&C and MMTA is due in part to the tremendous support provided by our Associate Members and Corporate Partners from across the country. Their expertise in various focus areas helps us navigate the rapids of treasury by providing education on current topics, laws, and trends.

We welcome you to join us in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and hope your visit will capture your imagination, warm your heart, and inspire you to come back for more.

Enjoy!
