The Wagga Wagga Veteran & Vintage Motor Club Inc. is currently seeking sponsorship to assist with the running of our 50th Annual June Rally in 2017.

This event runs for 4 days over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend from Friday 9th until Monday 12th of June.

Our rally has always attracted between 150 to 220 vehicles on an annual basis, equating to more than 600 people visiting our city over the 4 days - thus injecting a real boost for the accommodation and retail sectors of our local economy & beyond.

In addition - our Public Display held at Downside Recreational Reserve on the Sunday afternoon can attract in excess of 4000 people depending upon weather conditions prevailing on the day.

The Downside display not only shows off all vehicles officially entered in our rally, but also displays “Vehicles of Special Interest” entered on the day by local enthusiasts. Add in stationary engines, pedal cars, model car displays and various stalls including food and drink tents for the Public, and you have a great afternoon of entertainment.

Public Entry to the event is by gold coin donation per person with children under 16 admitted free.

All proceeds from the gates are distributed to well deserving local charities. As a club, the annual tradition of combining our June Rally with the Downside Public Display are two activities that we are extremely proud of providing to the community.

Unfortunately, the manpower required and the costs involved in running such an event has made it very difficult for a small club such as ours to maintain the high standard of organisation that both the entrants & the public have become accustomed to, and we ask that your business may consider some form of sponsorship to allow this traditional event to continue.

In return for your sponsorship we can offer your business a wide variety of advertising leading up to and during the rally.

Contact Us Please contact either of our Club’s representatives if you feel that your business may be in a position to provide some form of sponsorship towards our June Rally.

Our History

The Wagga Wagga Veteran & Vintage Motor Club was originally formed on 14th September 1967 by a small group of veteran and vintage motorcycle enthusiasts.

Since then the club has evolved into a diverse group of people with a common interest in the historic vehicle movement. Our club was incorporated in 1987 and currently has a membership of 115 members (70 families) and 54 club registered vehicles including cars, commercials and motorcycles.

At the end 1991 the club was able to obtain the old Postal Institute Tennis Court site on the corner of Docker and Morgan Streets, with Council approval and a lease agreement for the land. With the generous assistance of both past and present members at the time, allowed us to build our own clubrooms. The first meeting was held in the new clubrooms on 10th December 1993 and the complex is now our home base having all the facilities needed to administer the club and conduct regular meetings and social activities.

The charter of our club is to promote the restoration, preservation, use and display of Veteran, Vintage, Classic and Post Classic motor vehicles. The goodwill, friendship and communications encountered between members of our club and members of other clubs with similar interests and objectives allow us to organise various fund raising events throughout each year. The majority of events include participation from the general public. There is also a bank of knowledge and skills within our membership, which is available to help and guide new members into this challenging but rewarding hobby – and we must not forget our exceptional Library covering the history & technical details of a large range of heritage vehicles.

The Wagga Wagga Veteran & Vintage Motor Club Inc. is affiliated with the Council of Heritage Motor Clubs NSW Inc. found at www.bushcouncil.com.au and also the newly formed Southern Motoring Association Inc. at southernmotoring.com

The June Rallies

The June Rally is our main fund raising event each year and is held on the Queens Birthday long weekend. It attracts around 150 to 220 entries comprising veteran, vintage, post war and classic cars, commercials and motorcycles from the early 1900’s through to the 30 year cut-off date (currently 31st December 1987)

Rally Entrants register on Friday evening at the clubrooms, collecting their rally packs. On Saturday, entrants depart at 10:00am from the clubrooms for a 100 km run to a lunch destination, generally a town or rural hall. Marshals are located on strategic street corners to guide the entrants out of the city limits. Once in the bush, brightly painted crow signs define the route (Wagga Wagga is, after all, the “place of many crows”). After lunch, entrants proceed to an afternoon tea venue (generally a rural hall), and then back to Wagga Wagga around 5pm to complete the day’s activities.

Saturday night is left free so that entrants can explore the many dining and entertainment options available in our city - or just sit back and relax with family and friends in readiness for the Sunday morning run.

Sunday events start with a short run to a soup stop, leaving the clubrooms at 9:30am. June in Wagga Wagga can be bitterly cold, so hot soup in drums suspended over an open fire can be a welcome sight. There is always a volunteer available to prise a motorcyclist’s fingers off the handlebars. After soup, entrants proceed to the Downside Hall where the vehicles are placed on public display for the afternoon. During this time, entrant voting for various trophies occurs.

Trophies are presented at the Sunday dinner and a bus service is available to transport visitors to the venue.

Entrants are finally farewelled with a big BBQ breakfast on the Monday morning.

Magazine and Website Our members publish a monthly newsletter known as “Reflection” which keeps us up to date with all the news around the club and beyond. The Reflection is also distributed to many affiliated clubs throughout NSW and Northern Victoria. In recent years we have also developed our website at www.wwvvmcinc.wordpress.com The website covers all aspects of our club with

• Welcome • Club History • Members Section • Reflection, The Club Magazine • Photo Gallery • Club Members & Vehicles • June Rallies • Archives • For Sale or Wanted • Club Library

Vehicle Registration The club facilitates cost effective annual “Conditional Registration” for member’s vehicles through the RMS (old RTA). Eligible vehicles include motorcycles, cars and commercial vehicles manufactured up to a 30 years cut-off date. These vehicles must comply with original specifications, but some safety modifications are permitted e.g. fitting of turning indicators. Club vehicles on Conditional Registration currently have the added benefit to participate in the RMS’s 2-year logbook trial, which allows owners to drive their vehicles an additional 60 days per year in addition to normal Club Events.
