50’s Dancing Because our music video is going to flick back to the 50’s era we are analysing what type of dancing was done in that era so we can replicate it in our video. The Hand Jive: The Hand Jive was very popular in the 50’s; 1. Crouch down and slap your palms against your thighs twice 2. Cross your palms over and under each other, like a referee announcing "safe!" 3. Make your hands into fists and pound them on top of each other, twice each 4. 50’s DancingBecause our music video is going to flick back to the 50’s era we are analysing what type of dancing was done in that era so we can replicate it in our video. The Hand Jive:• The Hand Jive was very popular in the 50’s;1. Crouch down and slap your palms against your thighs twice2. Cross your palms over and under each other, like a referee announcing "safe!"3. Make your hands into fists and pound them on top of each other, twice each4. Use your fingers to touch elbows, one at a time5. "Hitch-hike" by making fists with your thumbs sticking out and pointing them over your

shoulder, again twice on each side

I think this would be good to replicate as it will be simple to rein act in a large group. The moves would also act as a good contrast to our song as our song is quite modern, bringing something new to the video.

The Stroll:Another easy group dance, the stroll was a direct descendant of more formal line dances, and was often a chance for individuals to show of their clothes, their dance moves, or both. Two lines of dancers would face each other, creating a pathway down which individuals or couples would "stroll" to the beat of the music and the encouragement of fellow dancers.

The Madison and the Cha Cha:These dances had more specific dances and songs associated with them, and required more time to learn them. Often their popularity was due to appearances in popular movies of the time. The Madison especially had many variations named after TV shows such as "the Jackie Gleason." While the Madison fell out of popularity, the Cha Cha is still taught and danced in ballrooms today.
