    pro sa icadjective

1 ordinary and not showing any imaginationunim gin tive2 dull; not romanticmund ne

One of those prosaic days when i came back home, i was as usual frustrated over my mundanelife. Yes, everybody have their mood swings but mine were getting quite frequent, which is alsonot out of ordinary but sometimes unacceptable. When you are living alone, it s alright. You arethe only one who becomes the victim of your bad mood. But while living in a family with thepeople of different age groups depending on you, carrying out the perilous mood swings becomes sort of antisocial. The reason behind all this fussing and cussing was the monotony ofmy job, which i had dearly cherished in the early years.

The very next morning, just like many other mornings, i opened my eyes after snoozing the

alarm clock for numerous times, with the same grimace on my face, same messy hair, same wrinkles in the bed sheet all implying a sleepless slumber. Slowly-slowly as i was coming to mysenses, i heard some piercing voice from somewhere...like someone poking needles in my ears. As i was edging more towards the consciousness, it was becoming unbearable and suddenly irealized that the voice was of some person...and it was coming from the kitchen and it was not just a voice... someone was SINGING!! Now that thought really made me budge my butt. Istepped into my slippers to look for my morning singer.

It was the mother of my maid. My maid is a young girl in merely 20's and she was sick. So hermother replaced her this morning. She was as tidy as her daughter. On realizing my presence, she suddenly stopped washing the utensils. Embarrassed, she wished me a very good morningand expressed her apologies about the singing as it woke me up. Well, never mind!!

What struck me was that she was a middle-aged woman doing this menial job with meagerincome ever since she was a kid and this is exactly what she would be doing for the rest of herlife. But look at her. ..all brightened up... singing like a morning bird, which doesnt sing becauseit has got a great voice but because it is just happy about this new day.

In a split second I realized that my problem was not my jobit was me. Every workwhether welove it or not, becomes mundane one day. But we need to keep on motivating ourselves with ourpassions. Its our imagination, our innovation that keeps from making our lives prosaic .

I left the kitchen with a smile on my face. As I turned my back, she started singing again. Nowalthough it was the same as before, just a little l ess deafening.it was beautiful .

Just an observationone has to be a voracious reader if he/she has thoughts of being a good writer one day. Good writing skills not just require a good vocabulary or a good grammar. The way one puts words to create a picture of the thoughts which could land in the readers mind without any distortion is what it takes to be a good writer.

Writers are the artistswho can paint the imagination of their readers with subtle use of words. Writers are the psychics wh o know what exactly reader might be thinking right now and whichtrain of words could take his thoughts to an entirely different level. Writers are the magicianskeeping their readers intrigued with their word-ly tricks. They dont let the readers escape their version of truth. It is an art which either one has to be born with or can be learned only by voracious reading.

    alac ritynoun

    Great willingness or enthusiasm

Who doesnt want to be in a good shape? Everybody does...but the fact that some of us areoverweight, illustrates the universal truth that some of us, are just BORN LAZY.

But there come many days in all of our lives when we do conjure the courage to move our buttsand burn some fat. We start with full alacrity setting up morning alarm...working the sweatout of ourselvesgoing on a hunger strike and what not. Some of us survive till the end and domanage to shed some kgs. But behold!! Thats when another revelation is bestowed upon us:losing weight is not the end of the story. The greater challenge lies in maintaining it. AndMaintenance is a word with prosaic connotation.

Well, this is what gym trainers suggest:

Exercise daily for at least 30-45 minutes: would help in body maintenance Replace one meal with oats/fruits: keeps u full for a long time. Drink at least 4 liters of water: would result in better flushing out of toxins and bad fats. One bowl of papaya daily: helps in better digestion Almonds/peanuts: curb the cravings

And for rest of the dayyou can be master of your own stomach.

Now ideally they are using clever marketing trick here . Its like the b uffet system in somegrandiose restaurants. They would price the buffet like Rs 500/700 which would include some nnumber of snacks plus lunch/dinner plus a variety of sweet dishes. That sounds like an alluringoffer. But this is their implementation strategy:

Initially, there would be some m number of rounds for all the n number of snacks allequally tempting. We, the voracious eaters become the victims of these mouth wateringsnacks and would almost fill our bellies.

Then, we will move towards buffet lunch/dinner with our almost filled bellies. But there would be sweet dishes resting on the opposite corner eying at you and intimidating you with the fact that you wont be able to t aste all of them if u filled your bellies further with well-made-but-yet-prosaic food. This encourages us to fill less in our platter.

So in the end of the day, we end up paying 500/700 bucks just for a variety of snacks and sweetdishes.

The point is if we are going fill our bellies with all the good-for-health stuff, our maximumcapacity to eat would have a major drop no matter how voracious eaters we are. So, the diet works for itself!! But For rest of the dayyou can be master of your own stomach serv es as asilver lining !!

Weight loss should not be undertaken as an assignment which once you have completed, wouldrot on some pages of your life. It should rather be adapted as a lifestyle. One should not work outto be skinny, but simply because you love to eat. This way even the irresistible cravings for ourfavorite foods wont be able to break our alacrity at any point. They would rather nurture it

    ver acitynoun

The quality of being true; the habit of telling the truthtruth , truthfulness

Nobody likes to be lied to. Doesnt matter whether its a w hite lie, big lie or a malicious lie, once you are caught lying, it puts the veracity of all your future statements in question.

We all have read that story about the bored mischievous shepherd who used to repeatedly trickthe villagers into thinking that a wolf has attacked his sheep. All the villagers would abandontheir works and rush to help this poor boy protect his sheep just to find out that he was lying. That little imp would have fits of laughter when they would realize that they have been tricked.

One day, the boy as usual cried out for help but this time, the wolf was real, not a product of hismischief. But since he had lost the veracity of his claims, the villagers turned a blind eye to hisscreams considering it as one of his usual tricks. And that served him well..!!

    con triteadjective

feel very sorry for sth bad that you have done

One day, I hid my sisters watch somewhere. She had been quite mean to me lately so I decidedto teach her a quick lesson. She spent the whole day searching for it. And I was watching her with a malevolent grin on my face. I was so pleased with myself for knowing the secret places athome no one could even guess.

At night, she was all exhausted after her ceaseless watch-hunt. Finally, that 6 year old girl

announced her state of giving up by bursting out in tears. When I felt that she has sufferedenough, I got up, brought her watch and swung it in front of her eyes with a spiteful amusementon my face. She snatched the watch and to my surprise started crying even bitterly. I tried to tellher that it was just a prank and I didnt mean to hurt her to this extent . But that stubborn child would just not stop crying. She rushed to her room with her oh-so-precious-watch in her hand.Thats enough!! Now she was overreacting. Does she expect me to creep up to her contrite and whimpering for how sorry I was on making her cry? No way!!

Next day, she came into the living room with extremely swollen eyes. God bless this child!! Shesa threat to herself!! I was getting ready for my school but I could nt find my English assignment which I had to submit today. I asked mom and she rather than helping me, started chiding mefor my sloppiness.

So after searching it at every possible and impossible place, this is what I did: I crept up to mysister contrite and whimpering and asked her to return my assignment as I was extremely-extremely sorry for my idea of joke !!
