I’m so glad you’re here!

In the northern hemisphere the short days and long nights have arrived, and with them chilly weather and holiday celebrations that can test even the strongest immune system. It’s a time of year when it’s common to over-indulge and reach for sugary snacks and caffeinated drinks to get through the day. I’ve created some truly delectable and delightful warming drinks to offer you a healthier option, for you, and I’m excited to be sharing them with you here.

Each recipe is made with raw ingredients that are intended to keep you warm, toasty and healthy all season long. Trust me when I say these drinks taste better and are much better for you than those you’ll find at your local coffee shop, vending machine or sidewalk café. Now you’ll have a choice when it comes to the temptations of coffee shop confections and holiday indulgences.

Several of these recipes are infused with nourishing superfoods to support your body in achieving and sustaining optimum health. I recommend using zero glycemic sweeteners to help you avoid the blood sugar rollercoaster that can derail even the best of healthy eating intentions any time of year. Each recipe can be made in 5 minutes or less, which makes these delicious and satisfying drinks the perfect warming treat for a full and busy beauty-conscious lifestyle.

5 Wonderfully Warming Raw Recipes

Peppermint Haute ChocolatePrep Time: 5 minutes Yield: 40 oz.

• 2 Tbsp raw pecan butter

• 3 Tbsp raw cashew butter

• cup raw cacao powder

• 2 tsp maca powder

• pinch high mineral salt

• tsp peppermint extract or flavor

• tsp vanilla extract

• 70-75 drops liquid stevia (chocolate flavor is wonderful)

• 6 cups hot water*

1. Heat 6 cups purified water in a tea kettle or in a pot on your stove and bring it to a nearly boiling temperature.

2. Add the raw nut butters, maca, extracts and stevia to your large blender carafe. (*Please be certain your blender carafe can hold at least 8 cups of liquid. If not, please divide this recipe in half and make it in two batches)

3. Add hot water to blender carafe, seal the lid onto the carafe, and begin to blend. Slowly increase the speed of the blender until on high.

4. Blend all ingredients until fully incorporated and the mixture becomes slightly frothy (approximately 20 seconds).

5. Serve immediately, garnishing every mug with a dash of raw cacao powder if desired.

A Note from Alicia:This is not your average hot cocoa, and that’s why I’ve called it Haute Chocolate! This is a gourmet, lowglycemic version of something you might find at a café in Paris, or at a high-end coffee shoppe in London.

It is rich, creamy, and equally refreshing and uplifting. And the simplicity of the recipe and the speed with which you can create something as delightful as this means you will be savoring this all season long!

Place a batch in a thermos and take it with you to work or when you go to watch the Christmas light displays around town. Share this taste of the season with your loved ones and watch their love for you grow!

PS: Due to the raw cacao content of this recipe, I don’t advise you drink this before bed. You might have difficulty drifting off to sleep, and I want you to be dreaming of sugar plum faeries instead! I recommend you enjoy this drink before 7pm.

Raw Chai Superfood LattéPrep Time: 5 minutes Yield: 40+ oz.

• cup raw cashew butter

• 2 Tbsp raw almond butter

• 2 tsp maca powder

• 1 tsp ground ginger

• 1 tsp ground cinnamon

• tsp ground cardamom

• tsp freshly ground black pepper

• tsp ground star anise

• tsp ground nutmeg

• pinch high mineral salt

• tsp vanilla extract

• 40 drops liquid stevia

• 5 cups hot water

1. Heat 5 cups of purified water in a tea kettle or on the stove to nearly boiling.

2. Place the raw nut butters, spices, salt and stevia into a blender carafe.

3. Add the 5 cups of hot water to the blender carafe, and securely fit the lid onto the carafe.

4. Holding the lid onto the blender with one hand, turn the blender on low and slowly increase speed to high. Blend until ingredients are completely combined and the liquid is well incorporated and frothy (approximately 20 seconds).

5. Pour into serving mugs, garnish with a smidge of ground cinnamon, and serve immediately.

A Note from Alicia:I gave up caffeine years ago because my little body just couldn’t process it well. But I still crave those coffee-shop-rich-and-dreamy drinks when the weather turns cold. This recipe is one of my absolute favorite go-to warming drinks, and it’s the perfect addition to your fall and winter recipe repertoire.

The spices that give this drink its chai flavor are all warming to the body. Maca (a powder made from a Peruvian root known for its hormone balancing and libido enhancing effects) is a superfood that offers grounding and earthy qualities to an already delightfully warm and creamy treat.

I love to make a batch and pour into my travel mug for immediate consumption, and the other

into a thermos to enjoy later in the day. It’s the perfect caffeine-free alternative to the processed sugar laden versions available at most coffee shops and cafés. It takes just moments to whip up and is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face and warm you from the inside out. Enjoy!

Pumpkin Spiced Warm MilkPrep Time: 5 minutes Yield: 32 oz.

• 3 Tbsp raw cashew butter

• 2 Tbsp raw walnut butter

• Pinch high mineral salt

• tsp vanilla extract

• 2 tsp pumpkin spice

• tsp ground cloves

• 40 drops liquid stevia (vanilla crème or cinnamon flavor are excellent)

• 4 cups purified hot water

1. Heat 5 cups of purified water in a tea kettle or pot on the stove to a nearly boiling temperature.

2. Place the raw nut butters, salt, spices and stevia into a blender carafe.

3. Add the hot water to the carafe and securely fasten the blender lid.

4. Blend on low, slowly turning up the speed until on high. Blend contents until the mixture becomes slightly frothy (approximately 20 seconds)

5. Serve immediately, and garnish with a dash of cinnamon

A Note from Alicia:I created this recipe when it was snowing and well below 0°F outside and all I wanted to do was crawl under a warm blanket by the fire and nap. This warm and frothy drink really helped my fingers and toes stay nice and toasty warm while tantalizing my taste buds with some of my favorite seasonal spices.

This is a light and creamy concoction that’s perfect for sipping and sharing. I love to savor this recipe before I prepare for bed, write in my journal, and get ready for dreamtime. I always feel like I’m floating on a pumpkin spiced cloud!

Serve up a mug or two, and place the remains in a thermos for seconds later in the day. This is the perfect wintertime treat!

Gingered Superfood Hot ChocolatePrep Time: 5 minutes Yield: 32 oz.

• cup raw cashew butter

• 3 tsp raw cacao powder

• 1 tsp ground ginger

• 1 tsp lucuma powder

• tsp ground tumeric

• tsp vanilla extract

• pinch high mineral salt

• 30 drops liquid stevia extract

• 4 cups purified water, hot

1. Heat 4 cups of purified water in a tea kettle or pot on the stove to a nearly boiling temperature.

2. Place the cashew butter, spices and stevia into a blender carafe.

3. Add the hot water and place the lid onto the blender carafe, making certain it is well sealed.

4. Keeping one hand on the blender lid, begin blending on low, slowing increasing the blender speed to high.

5. Blend until all ingredients are completely mixed and liquid appears frothy (approximately 20 seconds).

6. Pour and serve.

7. Garnish with optional cacao powder, and enjoy!

A Note from Alicia:For me, chocolate and ginger are a match made in heaven! This creamy drink is an amazing treat to enjoy when the temperatures outside drop and you’re craving something warm and comforting.

Both ginger and tumeric have warming and anti-inflammatory properties, while the lucuma powder lends a shortbread-like sweetness to this recipe without raising blood sugar levels. Did you know that lucuma also provides over 14 essential trace minerals and is a good source of magnesium, potassium and phosphorous?

I say indulge in this dreamy and delightful drink! Make an extra batch and put it in a thermos to help you recover from winter-time outdoor activities, or simply sip it by the fire with your sweetie. I hope you enjoy this superfood infused beverage!

Warm Caramel Milk with CardamomPrep Time: 5 minutes Yield: 40 oz.

• 3 Tbsp raw pecan butter

• 2 Tbsp raw walnut butter

• 1 tsp maca powder

• 1 tsp lucuma powder

• 1 tsp maple extract or flavor

• tsp vanilla extract or flavor

• 40 to 45 drops liquid stevia (vanilla crème or English toffee

• flavor are divine!)

• tsp ground cardamom

• tsp high mineral salt

• 5 cups hot purified water

1. Heat 5 cups of purified water to nearly boiling in a tea kettle or pot on your stove.

2. Place the raw nut butters, maca, lucuma, flavorings, spices and stevia into a blender carafe

3. Add the hot water to the blender carafe and secure the blender lid on tightly.

4. Begin blending on low, slowing turning up the speed to high, blending all ingredients until completely combined and the liquid becomes slightly frothy (approximately 20 seconds).

5. Serve immediately, garnishing each serving with a dash of ground cardamom, and enjoy!

A Note from Alicia:Since caramels are second only to English Toffee when it comes to my favorite sweets, this warming drink is a fantastic way for me to savor the flavors of caramel without making food choices I know don’t work well for me. Traditional caramels are made with white sugar, cream and butter, and truth be told, I don’t do well with heavy sugars and creams in my diet – they leave me feeling tired and hung over. This steaming cup of fabulousness leaves me feeling awake, alive, and warm and fuzzy on the inside. Who knew?

And for those of you who are new to Lucuma, it’s a Peruvian fruit that is often made into a powder and used as a low-glycemic sweetener. It tastes a bit like shortbread, and marries beautifully with the decadent maple and vanilla flavors we associate with creamy caramels.

This is the perfect recipe to satisfy your sweet tooth and warm you from the inside without all the negatives.
